    HEALTH BENEFITS COORDINATOR

     

    CLASSIFICATION/STATUS: Exempt, Full Time, Permanent

    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Community Support Services

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Health Benefits Counselors, Mount Auburn Lab Intake Counselors at both sites.

    As part of a dynamic team at Charles River Community Health (CRCH), a healthcare practice providing compassionate care to underserved communities, the HEALTH BENEFITS COORDINATOR will play a critical role in the comprehensive health benefits process. The HEALTH BENEFITS COORDINATOR will have a solid understanding of health insurance requirements, regulations, and policies. The HEALTH BENEFITS COORDINATOR will supervise counselors, prepare reports, compile statistical data, and develop key internal and community relationships to streamline the referral process

     

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Assist clients with completion of forms and applications as needed, to obtain health insurance and/or other financial and health information relating to Mass Health, CMSP, Connector Care, and Health Safety Net.
    • Follow up on patient enrollment status and patient documentation requirements.
    • Prepare reports and forms on a timely basis.
    • Compile statistical information needed for DPH and other contractors.
    • Supervise and train Health Benefits Counselors and Mount Auburn Lab Intake Counselors, ensuring competent coverage for the Center during all hours while the center is open.
    • Develop working relationships with staff of other community agencies to make referral process more efficient.
    • Assist with the acquisition and development of culturally sensitive education materials for use in community outreach and education programs.
    • Attend all necessary DPH and related meetings pertaining to various grants and contracts.
    • Work collaboratively with other Health Center staff in meeting JCAHO accreditation and other regulatory and/or funding requirements.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    YOUR QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, TRAITS 

    •  Mature responsible individual; team-oriented.
    •  Strong organizational and communication skills.
    •  Experience in health care or social service preferred.
    •  Ability to work one evening a week.
    •  Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese required
    •  High School graduate, Associates Degree preferred.
    •  Experience in diverse culture preferred.
