    POSITION SUMMARY

    CSTN works with over 20 partner schools across Los Angeles to ensure that students have an excellent teacher leading their classroom every day.

    As a guest teacher, you are responsible for leading a classroom of students to reach their academic goals every day by executing the plans left by their absent teacher, fostering a positive classroom culture that maximizes instructional time, and serving as an exemplary role model for your students.

    The ideal candidate is deeply committed to working with students in the most challenging circumstances, and serves as a model of excellence for students by demonstrating professionalism and reliability. 

    COMPENSATION

    Full day (over 4 hours): $155/day

    Half day (less than 4 hours): $85/day

    Long-term rate (15+ days): $175/day

    Essential Duties

    • Carry out lesson plan instructions from the classroom teacher, and/or create lesson plans in absence of a prepared lesson; ensure all material is covered
    • Create and maintain a discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and productive learning environment in accordance with school policies
    • Create and maintain a climate of respect and fairness for all students
    • Respond and report to "call-ins" in a timely manner
    • Maintain professional appearance that adheres to school policies

    Additional Requirements

    • At least 1 year experience of working with young people
    • Bachelor's degree(s) or higher
    • Ability to establish professional working relationships with students and staff
    • Excellent promptness and time management skills
    • Ability to build rapport with students and effectively manage a classroom
    • Reliable transportation
    • Flexibility and a willingness to travel up to 25 miles 
    • Valid CA teaching credential or active 30-day substitute teaching permit
