    Position Overview:

    To effectively recover outstanding debt while providing exceptional customer service that encourages repeat business and word or mouth product and service promotion. Locating and notifying customers of delinquent accounts by telephone to solicit payment. Duties include receiving payment and posting amount to customer's account; preparing statements if customer fails to respond; keeping records of collection and status of accounts.

    Essential Job Functions:

    Requires regular and consistent attendance and punctuality to maintain appropriate levels of customer service and production levels based on the time sensitive nature of the work itself and the time restrictions imposed by provisions within the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) regarding phone calls to customers.

    Requires good time management skills to manage one’s own time and the time of others.

    Ability to meet production goals as set forth by Check City Management.

    Requires prolonged sitting in a semi-enclosed cubicle.

    Ability to work in a general office environment with varying degrees of background noise and temperature fluctuations.

    Requires the ability learn and use a PC and related equipment to enter data or process information.

    Requires ability to type twenty-five (25) plus words per minute with minimal errors.

    Requires employee to wear a single or stereo headset for prolonged periods of time.

    Requires hand and finger dexterity to continually input data via a PC keyboard or telephone.

    Requires normal or corrected vision to see details on a PC screen or CRT at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

    Requires good oral expression: Good and clear speech to be understood by customers over standard phone connectivity.

    Communication ability: The ability to communicate information and ideas in spoken and written format.

    Hearing and comprehension: requires employee to be able to hear, over standard phone connectivity, to understand information through spoken words.

    Requires ability to read English and understand ideas and information provided both verbally and in written form.

    Requires ability to quickly and correctly calculate simply arithmetic problems.

    Ability to arrange things or actions in certain order or pattern according to specific rule or set.

    General Knowledge:

    Economics and Accounting: General knowledge of basic economics and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data.

    Working knowledge of the rules and regulations governing credit, credit granting and credit collection, specifically, but not limited to Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Gramm, Leach, Bliley Privacy Act.

    Customer Service: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and an evaluation of customer satisfaction.

    Clerical: Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing.

    Non-Essential Job Functions:

    Some lifting may be required on items up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

    General housekeeping chores to maintain a clean work environment.

    Requirements:

    Normal or corrected vision to 20/20 or better

    Hearing within normal conversational range

    Type twenty-five (25) plus WPM

    10 key proficient

    Clear and understandable speaking voice

    Read and write the English language to a tenth (10th) grade level

    High School graduate

    Other Skills/Abilities:

    Ability to use general office equipment (Copier, Scanner, FAX machine, Stapler, etc.)
