THE OPPORTUNITY

You will provide technical equipment support and identify equipment discrepancies. You will prepare accurate and timely reports. You will provide customer service in the area of inspecting, testing, maintenance and repair of Life Safety Equipment to include but not limited to fire extinguishers, fire hose, Gas Detection Monitors, SCBA etc. You will need to have a basic knowledge of regulatory standards pertaining to assigned duties; i.e., State, OSHA, NFPA regulations and guidelines. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

+--------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | +----------------------------------------------------------------------- | | ---+ | | | - Conducting service calls. | | | | | | - Identifying equipment discrepancies. | | | | | | - Preparing accurate and timely Technician Worksheets (TWS) | | | | | | and reports. | | | | | | - Responsible for providing the testing and repair documentation and | | | | | | ensuring it is filled out accurately, completely and turned in for | | | | | | proper invoicing. | | | | | | - Responsible for ensuring the customer has all required copies of a | | ll | | | | required documentation upon servicing equipment. | | | | | | - Assist in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in | | | | | | merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders & distributi | | ng | | | | to sales associates for processing. | | | | | | - May include the use of company provided assets such as but not | | | | | | limited to: Company Vehicle, Inventory, Safety Equipment, Laptop, | | | | | | LSI Scanner, Test Equipment, Tools, Radio, Cell Phone, Fuel Card | | | | | | and/or Credit Card. | | | | | | | | | | | | - Providing customer service in the area of Inspecting, Testing, | | | | | | Maintenance and Repairs of Life Safety Equipment. JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

• Experience in the Inspection, Testing, Maintenance and Repair of Life Safety Equipment.
• Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
• Maintain minimum productivity of 90% within 60 days.
• Advanced Industry segment knowledge.
• Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.
• Commercial Driver’s License required if carrying loads of hazardous materials.
• Proficient with hand tools.
• Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner.
• Able to provide assistance, advice and training to Vallen associates and plant personnel.
• Will need possess a vailed State of Texas Fire Extinguisher license.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 

• High School or GED
• Minimum 2 Certification (manufacturer /state) in a fire protection related field
• Minimum 1 - 3 years related experience
• Mechanically inclined
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and be self-motivated to accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
• Demonstration of attention to detail and is safety minded.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Work environment may not be temperature controlled; must have the ability to work in extreme hot or cold environments.
• Must have the ability to work in dusty conditions.
• May be required to handle hazardous materials and wear various forms of protective equipment (shoes, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.)
• May be required to pass forklift and/or other warehouse equipment certifications (written and/or driving).
• Assigned work shifts may vary and/or rotate.
• Overtime may be required; extended day, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
• Must be able to handle and work physical inventory; required to lift up to 25 lbs or greater with assistance following standard operating and safety procedures. Other physical requirements including, regularly being required to stand, walk, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, climb and balance.
• Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus are required.
