  • Responsibilities

    Compass Chemical Group, a company of Italmatch USA Corporation, is hiring a Chemical Production Operator in Smyrna, GA. The Chemical Production Operator mixes raw materials to create finished products according to batch tickets.

    Position Description:

    The Production Operator is responsible for mixing raw materials to create finished products according to production orders. Performs a wide variety of tasks associated with the manufacturing process. Examples of these are filling drums, loading/ unloading tank wagons, charging batches, operating forklifts, operating various pieces of equipment, washing drums and totes, washing trucks, housekeeping duties, and other tasks as needed.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Reading and following written materials, batch sheets, instruction sheets, labels, etc.
    • Reading numbers and symbols and recording on paper or computer as required.
    • Obtains and understands all documentation for making batches. Ensures correct ingredients are used for each batch.
    • Pumping and pouring chemicals into blend tanks in predetermined quantities.
    • Operates equipment (mixers, scales, meters, pumps, forklifts, etc.) safely.
    • Ensures all raw materials returned to inventory have the correct quantity and information on containers and containers are in good condition.
    • Observe machinery, tools, and equipment to set up, operate, and perform tasks or processes.
    • Observe the actions of people to respond to workplace and personnel emergencies.
    • Listen to verbal instructions, orders, conversations, etc. to work as a team member.
    • Cleans equipment when needed.
    • Refers issues/problems to the Production Supervisor.
    • Complete all paperwork and batch documentation in a timely manner.
    • Observes safety requirements set forth by company.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

    Position Requirements:

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

    • 2+ years of manufacturing experience.

    • Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English, including safety rules, operating procedures, product recipes, material identification, etc.

    • Must have mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Able to perform

    these operations using weight and volume measurements.

    • Able to manipulate powder bags up to 50 lbs.

    • Good troubleshooting skills.

    • Able to drive a forklift – A valid forklift certification is a plus but not required.
