Water Chemist / Environmental Laboratory Specialist 📍 Midland / Orla, TX Area | Full-Time | Oil & Gas Industry
A growing energy organization in West Texas is seeking a hands-on Water Chemist / Laboratory Specialist to support analytical testing, compliance initiatives, and water treatment optimization efforts within a dynamic industrial environment.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with experience in oil & gas, environmental laboratories, produced water, or industrial water treatment who enjoys both laboratory analysis and field-related problem solving.
Key Responsibilities: • Conduct routine and specialized testing on treated water, feed water, brine, and related samples • Perform wet chemistry and analytical testing using laboratory instrumentation and field-testing equipment • Support environmental and regulatory compliance sampling efforts • Assist with troubleshooting scaling, corrosion, fouling, and treatment performance issues • Analyze laboratory results and identify process improvement opportunities • Maintain accurate QA/QC documentation, data logs, and reporting records • Support laboratory organization, safety procedures, and equipment management • Collaborate with operations and technical teams to improve overall treatment performance
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field • 2+ years of experience within oil & gas, environmental laboratory, or water treatment environments • Strong understanding of water quality testing and analytical chemistry methods • Experience with produced water, desalination, or industrial water systems highly preferred • Comfortable working in a remote industrial setting • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Experience: • TCEQ, NPDES, or TPDES compliance exposure • Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) • Supervisory or lead laboratory experience • ICP, IC, TOC analyzers, or related instrumentation
