  • Responsibilities

    The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all hotel equipment is properly serviced and functional, that the hotel grounds and facilities are maintained, and that training is provided for each department as to the proper operation and maintenance of departmental equipment. Must be able to maintain the physical operation of the hotel including building structure, fixtures, refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment, electrical systems and grounds. Responsibilities: • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner • Maintain regular attendance, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, as defined in the hotel handbook, when working • Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations • Supervise and train all Engineering staff • Oversee all projects • Coordinate all Engineering staff scheduling • Create and adhere to annual budget for the department • Develop and implement plans to keep property, equipment, and grounds in an acceptable state of repair • Create and implement preventive maintenance program for all hotel equipment • Coordinate periodic inspection of all safety systems • Ensure that room maintenance requests are handled in a prompt and courteous manner • Follow up on all alarms immediately to determine the exact location and cause. Determine emergency status and report findings to Guest Services. Take immediate action as necessary • Design construction and repair projects • Ensure engineering staff adheres to Loss Prevention guidelines • Keep immediate supervisors fully informed of all challenges or matters requiring his/her attention • Supervising staff includes: interviews, hiring, scheduling, training, development, empowering, coaching council, recommending and conducting performance and salary reviews, resolving problems, providing open communications, recommending discipline termination as appropriate • Prepare department payroll weekly • Maintain open door policy • Check and respond to electronic communications in a timely fashion • Check appearance of all department employees to ensure compliance with NCHR Standards of Appearance, council when necessary • Negotiate and enter into contracts, as appropriate, to maintain the facility to required standards Qualifications: • Weightlifting Capacity • Maintenance Experience • Driver's License • US Work Authorization • Leadership Skills Compensation: $65,000 - $70,000 per year
