    Chess Instructor s Assistant Coordinator | Chess Wizards

    We are looking for a passionate, results-oriented individual to play a key role in our regional instructor coordination, training, and program quality initiatives. This role will be part-time ( 20-25 hours per week ), and a combination of work-from-home and on-site visits. Qualified applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills, emotional intelligence, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills.

    Duties include:

    • Lead by example – be able to create a safe, fun, and friendly learning environment for our students and staff.
    • Cultivate an inclusive community of chess education, where all students and staff are safe, welcome, and respected.
    • Assist in the hiring and training of new instructors.
    • Coordinate instructors' teaching schedules.
    • Regularly visit area classes for training, evaluations, and ongoing professional development.
    • Act as a visiting or substitute instructor, as needed.
    • Direct and coordinate instructors at larger programs.
    • Investigate school client complaints, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions.
    • Play a pivotal role in ensuring program-wide and individual training standards are achieved.
    • Coordinate a system of regular communication with our instructors.
    • Conduct coaching calls, roundtables, and follow-ups.
    • Organize an ‘action list' of quality control tasks based on information gathered during the work, forward items to the departments most directly able to complete the task, and follow up on completion.
    • Engage with a minimum of 20 instructors per week.
    • Communicate with regional managers and assistant managers regarding instructors' training progress; work together to set goals for instructors, monitor progress, coordinate site visits, and coordinate training sessions.
    • Keep a regular communication schedule with your coordinators.
    • Keep a log of your working hours through clock-in/clock-out productivity software.
    • Assist in creating the ongoing training curriculum for Chess Wizards instructors.
    • Keep regular documentation of your efforts.
    • Assist with various quality control tasks as directed by your coordinators.

    Requirements:

    • At least one year of chess teaching experience.
    • At least one year of volunteer or professional management experience.
    • Reliable means of transportation, to visit sites within a 30-mile approximate radius from your metropolitan area.
    • A home office including high-speed internet, a recent computer or tablet, Skype, and email client software.
    • Ability to work mornings, with some occasional evening flexibility to accommodate instructors in different time zones.
    • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Compliance with all state requirements for educational workers completed before the start date.

    Compensation:

    • Average of 30 hours per week of work.
    • Administrative and Management work: $19 to $24 per hour (depending on experience).
    • You'll be able to also teach with us ($60 - $80 per scheduled class, averaging 3-5 classes per week).
      • You can make around $960 in a week's work , at $22 per hour of admin work in the mornings and 5 classes per day in the afternoons with a starting rate of $60.
