    ABOUT THE ROLE 

    CHICA PROJECT seeks a Finance Intern that will support the finance team in the preparation of financial reports, financial planning, and management of the accounting operations. The successful candidate will want to grow in the areas of nonprofit financial management, reconciliation of accounts, and audit compliance. This internship opportunity is for the 2022-2023 academic year, starting on August 22nd, 2022 and ending late June of 2023 and requires a commitment of 8-10 weekly hours. THIS IS A PAID OPPORTUNITY.

    ABOUT YOU 

    CHICA PROJECT is looking for someone who is mission-driven, with a positive attitude to play a critical role in ensuring that the day-to-day functioning of CHICA PROJECT's financial operations are being supported effectively and efficiently. This is a valuable opportunity for interns to gain experience in the nonprofit sector, develop finance management, operations, and reporting skills, and join a powerful network of women in Massachusetts and beyond. Further qualifications include:

    • Passionate about youth development, social justice, and community building
    • Experience in financial management (at any level, from bookkeeping to audit preparation)
    • Experience working with communities of color and grassroots organizations, with understanding of systemic oppressions
    • Interest in implement financial management procedures

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bilingual: Proficiency or fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required
    • Strong organization skills
    • Love of continuous learning

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    The position will be mainly responsible for the following areas, but duties can expand beyond central responsibilities of:

    • Collaborate with staff to create, strengthen, and maintain current financial operations from receipt tracking to audit preparation
    • Manage data entry (accounts payable and accounts receivable)
    • Assist in modification of necessary documents for financial management (procedures manual, yearly budget, reporting documents etc.)
    • Work closely with development team for financial reporting on funds secured through individual donations, fundraisers, fee-for-service, and grants
    • Attend finance committee meetings
    • Participate in financial planning and assessments
