    ABOUT THE ROLE 

    CHICA PROJECT is looking for a Graphic Design Intern to visually enhance the online presence of the organization and support the Marketing and Communication (M&C)'s team in creating the design for programs, fundraisers, and events. The successful candidates will implement the organization's style guide, guaranteeing that all organization collateral is true to the CHICA PROJECT personality. Reporting to the Executive Director, this individual will work closely with the M&C team to effectively brand and promote the organization. This internship opportunity is for the 2022-2023 academic year, starting on August 22nd, 2022 and ending late June of 2023 and requires a commitment of 8-10 weekly hours. THIS IS A PAID OPPORTUNITY.

    ABOUT YOU 

    CHICA PROJECT is looking for someone who is mission-driven, with a positive attitude to help build and solidify our brand presence at a critical moment of growth for our organization. This is a valuable opportunity for an intern to gain experience in the nonprofit sector, develop design and marketing skills, and join a powerful network of women in Massachusetts, and beyond. Further qualifications include

    • Passionate about youth development, social justice, and community building
    • Excited about visual storytelling
    • Experience working with communities of color and grassroots organizations, with understanding of systemic oppressions
    • Interest in data and social media metrics
    • Flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Multilingual Proficiency or fluency in Spanish, Portuguese and/or Haitian Creole is preferred, but not required
    • Willingness to learn software management
    • Graphic design major or enrolled in a related degree program
    • Compelling portfolio of graphic design work that showcases knowledge of style guide implementation and creativity
    • Knowledge of digital media software – Illustrator and Photoshop, Adobe Indesign

    RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    The position will be mainly responsible for the following areas, but duties can expand beyond central responsibilities of:

    • Assist with design of promotional web graphics, flyers, banners, posters, invitations and other advertising and marketing materials as needed
    • Adhere to style guidelines and complete projects according to deadline
    • Update website with film and event text, images, press release, sponsor logos, video, etc.
    • Retouch, post-production and manipulate images
    • Use graphic design software and work with a wide variety of media
    • Collaborate with the M&C team to develop design concepts
    • Receive feedback from the M&C team and make necessary changes
    • Assist in assembly final presentation material for printing or publishing as needed
    • Excel in Google Slides and Google Docs making editable designs and templates
