Position Summary:
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is a key member of the executive leadership team at The Walker House Inc], responsible for overseeing all non-clinical operations of the behavioral health care facility. The CAO ensures administrative functions align with the organization's mission, values, and strategic goals while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. This position plays a critical role in managing human resources, finance, facilities, compliance, risk management, and overall business operations to support high-quality, client-centered behavioral health services.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Oversight
Direct and manage administrative departments including HR, billing, finance, compliance, IT, and general operations.
Implement and evaluate systems, processes, and policies to improve organizational efficiency.
Oversee administrative budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure tracking.
Human Resources & Staffing
Collaborate with HR to ensure effective hiring practices, onboarding, staff development, and retention strategies.
Assist with labor relations, performance management, and employee engagement.
Promote a trauma-informed, inclusive, and equitable work environment.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations including HIPAA, OSHA, Medicaid/Medicare, and AODE/Joint Commission or CARF accreditation standards.
Oversee internal audits, corrective action plans, and incident reporting.
Serve as a liaison for external inspections, audits, and licensing bodies.
Financial & Operational Management
Work closely with the CFO (or serve dual role if no CFO) to oversee revenue cycle management, grant administration, and cost containment strategies.
Monitor contracts with vendors, managed care organizations, and third-party service providers.
Evaluate and manage facility operations including technology, infrastructure, and supply chain needs.
Strategic Leadership
Contribute to strategic planning and implementation in partnership with the CEO and clinical leadership.
Support expansion, program development, and quality improvement initiatives.
Prepare and present operational reports to the board of directors or governing body.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Kentucky behavioral health regulations and AODE certification requirements (if applicable).
Experience in trauma-informed care systems and harm reduction principles.
Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and data-driven decision-making.
