JOIN OUR MISSION : As we continue to expand our operations, we're searching for a driven Chief Engineer to join our team.
YOUR ROLE : The Chief Engineer manages a team of subject matter experts, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, managing maintenance schedules, and managing project teams. This role requires strong technical and operational leadership, as well as the ability to develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs of electrical, mechanical, and/or HVAC systems within the data center.
- Design, implement, and optimize technical programs to improve facility efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), and Maintenance Operating Procedures (MOPs).
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for system failures and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of critical infrastructure systems.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure quality control of outsourced maintenance and repair services.
- Provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Stay up to date with industry advancements and integrate best practices into facility operations.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, industry regulations, and company policies.
- Participate in on-call rotation and emergency response efforts.
- Oversee daily critical facility equipment operations of the data center.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs.
- Manage a team of subject matter experts and plan maintenance and projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Manage project teams related to equipment repairs and replacement.
- Manage facility drills.
- Develop and deliver technical training programs.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of data center infrastructure and systems.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage projects and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- 8-10+ years of experience in a data center environment or related field.
- Prior military or technical school training, preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience working in mission critical environments, preferred.
- Experience with building electrical, mechanical, BMS and fire systems, preferred.
- Electrical or mechanical license (HVAC), preferred.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- May be required to work weekends, nights, or be on-call as a regular part of the job.
- Work in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to loud noise levels.
- Exposure to controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions.
