Butterfly Staffing is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations for a well-established government contractor in Chesapeake, VA. This role is responsible for all financial and contractual matters, serving as a strategic partner to leadership while ensuring compliance with FAR, DFARS, GAAP, and contractual requirements.
The CFO will manage company budgets, audits, proposals, and compliance initiatives while overseeing the finance department team. The ideal candidate brings strong government contracting experience, leadership skills, and familiarity with Microsoft Business Central.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the company’s financial and contractual management functions, ensuring compliance with FAR/DFARS, GAAP, and contract terms.
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, indirect rates, and cost proposals.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation and analysis.
• Manage payroll, tax submissions, cash flow, and annual accounting reviews.
• Lead audits with DCAA, DCMA, and external partners; ensure internal controls and system compliance.
• Oversee company insurance, SAM/ITAR registrations, and purchasing system compliance.
• Support program managers and HR in meeting financial and compliance objectives.
• Manage the functionality and oversight of Microsoft Business Central accounting software.
• Supervise finance department staff, including scheduling, timesheet approvals, and performance management.
• Foster a positive, collaborative work environment within the finance team.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required (additional years of experience may substitute).
• 15+ years of accounting experience with 7+ years in management.
• 5+ years of direct government contracting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, DFARS, and government compliance standards.
• Proven leadership and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; knowledge of Microsoft Business Central strongly desired.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Active DoD Secret clearance preferred (candidates eligible to obtain may be considered).
