CMES, Inc. is seeking a CFO to direct and oversee the financial activities of the company, direct the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and create forecasts predicting future growth. The CFO is a key member of the executive leadership team that plays a critical role in developing financial strategies to support the company’s strategic objectives and growth in a competitive industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting functions.
Provide strategic financial leadership and insights into the executive leadership team.
Implement and monitor KPIs to track financial health and drive performance.
Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Manage relationships with banks, bonding companies, auditors, insurance providers, and tax advisors.
Monitor cash flow, job cost controls, and financial performance across all projects.
Compares profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
Support the estimating and project management teams with financial analysis, margin control, and cost forecasting.
Oversee and support long-range financial planning and capital expenditure decisions.
Supervise accounting staff ensuring professional development and cross-training.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, field required
Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience with at least 5 years being in the construction industry. Heavy civil highway industry preferred.
Strong knowledge of construction accounting and job costing.
Proven experience in leading financial strategy and operations for a privately held business. Experience working with construction ERP systems (e.g. Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300, or similar). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate.
High integrity and commitment to ethical financial stewardship.
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
Ability to follow and adhere to established safety procedures.
Knowledge of DOT-funded project requirements and public infrastructure contracts preferred.
