Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Reports to: Head of Schools
Position Goal: The CFO provides executive leadership in financial management at Traders Point Christian Schools (TPCS), ensuring the financial infrastructure supports the delivery of high-quality Christian education in alignment with TPCS’s mission.
Qualifications:
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Education: A four-year degree in Business Administration is required; an MBA is preferred.
- Experience: Five years of experience is required, with experience in an educational environment preferred.
- Skills:
* Staff oversight and organizational leadership
* Knowledge of federal and state laws regarding financial reporting for independent schools
* Financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting experience
* Proficiency in financial management software (i.e., RenWeb, FACTS, or other educational software

- A committed Christian with a mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ in both personal and professional life
- A calling and commitment to Christian education
- Agreement with and compliance with TPCS’s Statement of Faith
- Strong leadership skills required, including strategic thinking, team management, and the ability to collaborate respectfully and tactfully with others.
Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership and Oversight:
- Lead the development of the annual budget, coordinating with the Head of School, Leadership Team, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
- Enhance budgeting skills across the Leadership Team.
- Monitor the budget and provide clear monthly reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Regularly report to the Finance Committee and Board regarding operating budgets and financial matters.
- Assist the Treasurer and Finance Committee with the execution of fiduciary responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain a chart of accounts and fund accounting system per FASB guidelines.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovations in financial practices.
Audit and Financial Planning:
- Serve as the liaison with auditors and oversee the annual audit process, reporting to the Head of School, Finance Committee, and Board of Trustees.
- Provide timely, accurate financial data to approved third-party firms for periodic audits of bank reconciliations, payroll, and other financial records.
- Maintain relationships with lenders, investment advisors, board members and school leadership, vendors, and service providers etc.
- Collaborate with the Leadership Team to develop and maintain a long-range financial planning model aligned with TPCS’s strategic plan.
Cash Management and Operations:
- Project annual cash flow needs and oversee cash management to ensure adequate reserves.
- Direct the billing and collection of accounts, ensuring timely payment of invoices.
- Oversee the purchasing of consumables and fixed assets and maintain an inventory system.
Fundraising & External Relations:
- Collaborate with the Director of Mission Advancement to assist in major fundraising efforts (event-based fundraising, grant opportunities, corporate scholarships, etc.)
- Serve as the primary business manager of TPCS.
- Manage the alignment of TPCS operations with those of Traders Point Christian Church.
Legal & Insurance Oversight:
- Serve as the primary Administrator for legal matters (i.e., contracts, compliance with educational laws, etc.), utilizing legal resources and working with Board Members as needed.
- Oversee insurance risks and manage the acquisition of reliable and cost-effective coverage.
Other Duties:
- Supervise administrative office functions and staff to ensure efficient operations.
- Ensure adherence to regulations set forth by governmental and educational agencies.
- Assist the Head of School with other assigned duties, such as communication with parents, development of policies, compliance with accreditation agencies, etc.
- Regularly review and adjust the salary scale to ensure it remains competitive with other comparable private schools.
- Monitor and evaluate local tuition to maintain industry competitiveness.

Job Information:
- 12-month, exempt, salaried position.
