We are seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations and drive our organization's financial strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in real estate finance, risk management, capital markets, and investor relations. This executive will be instrumental in managing all financial functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing performance, and guiding long-term strategic growth.
This role is based in our San Francisco office and requires a hands-on leader with a firm grasp of complex financial and legal frameworks across real estate development and investment.
Lead all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis, cash flow, and reporting.
Manage all accounting functions, directly supervising the controllers and two accountants.
Develop and continuously improve standard operating procedures to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance.
Oversee project and corporate budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Implement effective risk management strategies and conduct financial risk assessments across all projects.
Ensure full compliance with GAAP, IAS, and IFRS standards and regulatory reporting requirements.
Supervise payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Analyze profit and loss statements, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improved profitability.
Collaborate with supply chain management to optimize cost structures.
Leverage advanced financial software (NetSuite, Excel, Google Sheets) for efficient reporting and decision-making.
Lead real estate transactions and capital structuring, managing negotiations and investment strategies.
Oversee debt solicitation and closing, including lender communications and funding processes.
Coordinate with legal teams to ensure PPMs and Operating Agreements align with financial models.
Partner with the capital markets team to deliver quarterly investor reports.
Manage quarterly investor payments and construction draw processes.
Collaborate with property management on monthly reporting and annual budgeting.
Maintain and manage capitalization tables and investor communications.
Provide monthly financial reporting to the board on project performance and overall financial health.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, engineering, or real estate required.
Master's degree in accounting, finance, or MBA preferred.
10+ years of senior financial leadership, ideally in real estate development or investment.
Proven ability to lead financial strategy, modeling, and structuring of complex real estate deals.
Strong knowledge of risk management, capital markets, and financial compliance.
Expertise in IAS, IFRS, GAAP, and legal/regulatory reporting requirements.
Proficiency in financial tools including NetSuite, Excel, and Google Sheets.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience leading finance and accounting teams in a high-growth environment.
Excellent communication skills for engaging with investors, lenders, board members, and other stakeholders.
Competitive base salary of $250,000 – $350,000, commensurate with experience.
