Are you a thoughtful, data-driven operator who gets genuine satisfaction from helping small business owners achieve greatness? Do you love transforming chaos into clarity — guiding entrepreneurs to make confident, fact-based decisions and take bold, effective action? If so, this may be the most rewarding role of your career.

At How To Manage A Small Law Firm , we act as the outsourced CEO, COO, CFO, and CMO for 500+ growing small law firms nationwide. You don't need prior law firm experience — we'll teach you that. What matters is your ability to lead, analyze, communicate, and help small business owners turn potential into performance.

As a Fractional COO , you'll oversee operations for up to 30 client law firms — interpreting data, identifying inefficiencies, and coaching firm owners toward better systems and stronger results. You'll work remotely as part of a collaborative “pod” with a CEO, CFO, and CMO, helping clients build thriving, well-run businesses.

If This Sounds Like You… THIS COULD BE THE JOB FOR YOU!

    • Strategic + Tactical Thinker: You can build and adapt 18-month growth and operations plans that are practical, measurable, and drive results.

    • Natural Coach & Accountability Partner: You're more than a manager — you're a trusted advisor who helps small business owners push past mindset blocks, procrastination, and resistance.

    • Deep Small Business / Legal Ops Experience: You've led or advised service-based businesses (law firms, agencies, or consultancies preferred) and understand the realities of entrepreneurial growth.

    • Creative, Personable, Entrepreneurial: You're energized by high-drive entrepreneurs and know how to “speak lawyer” while keeping it real.

    • Tech-Savvy & Detail-Oriented: You leave behind bulletproof notes and documentation — running a relay race, not a solo marathon.

    We're Looking For:

    • A seasoned operations leader with at least 5 years of experience working with service-based businesses (law firms, consulting, healthcare, agencies, or similar).

    • Someone who finds joy in helping entrepreneurs succeed and takes pride in building systems that work.

    • A confident communicator who can analyze data, explain insights, and hold clients accountable to results.

    • A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, no-excuses, high-growth environment and takes 100% personal responsibility.

    • Someone who understands how to balance strategy and execution — thinking long-term while making daily progress.

    We're Not Looking For:

    • Job hoppers or short-term seekers — we invest deeply in our team and clients.

    • Corporate-only professionals who have never worked in or supported small, service-based businesses.

    • Theorists who prefer to delegate rather than do.

    • Someone who experience is in manufacturing, Technology.

    • Anyone afraid to challenge clients or dive into operational detail.

    • Anyone looking for part-time or “light consulting” work — this is a full-time, hands-on role.

    Compensation & Benefits:

$110K base + performance pay (target $180K total) + medical, dental, vision, 401K match, unlimited PTO, and more.

    Who We Are:

We're an Inc. 5000 company (every year since 2013), founded around a dining room table and built by passionate people who take full responsibility for results. We value humor, humility, and heart — and we believe in helping small business owners and our team members grow together.

If you're driven by purpose, energized by solving problems, and love seeing service-based small businesses achieve greatness — you'll thrive here.
If you're looking for predictability or politics, you won't.

This is a full-time, remote role available only to residents of AZ, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NY, PA, TX, VA, or WA.
