    • Our client is a leading provider of drywell construction, stormwater system maintenance, and hydrovac services across the Western U.S. They specialize in projects and services for municipalities, general contractors, property managers, and private developers. They are expanding their footprint and are seeking a driven, accountable, and hands-on Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the Arizona operations into the next phase of growth.
    • The newly created Chief Operating Officer position will be responsible for overseeing operational performance, driving scalable systems and processes, and mentoring existing leadership here in Arizona. The Chief Operating Officer will also collaborate cross-functionally with leaders in their other markets, Utah and California, to establish a presence in these markets. The ideal candidate has deep operational experience in construction, field services, or environmental services, and thrives in a fast-paced, execution-focused culture

    Responsibilities:

    • Drive continued company growth by aligning sales, operations, and project execution toward scalable, repeatable success.
    • Champion cross-functional coordination to ensure we win more work, start jobs faster, and complete them more efficiently.
    • Identify and remove bottlenecks that limit growth across estimating, project management, field execution, or customer onboarding.
    • Support business development and sales efforts by reinforcing accountability, pipeline visibility, and smart market prioritization.
    • Lead with urgency and focus—ensuring that teams are always pushing toward higher volume, faster execution, and greater impact.
    • Oversee all day-to-day operations for Arizona, with a focus on hydrovac maintenance and drywell construction (both new and existing site/retrofit projects).
    • Implement and improve systems that drive job profitability, schedule adherence, and margin optimization.
    • Collaborate closely with field managers and site leadership to ensure accountability, clear communication, and performance metrics are consistently met.
    • Build scalable, repeatable operational systems that support growth, efficiency, and consistent job execution.
    • Lead efforts to improve job costing, field reporting, job tracking, and equipment/resource utilization.
    • Work alongside the CFO to ensure financial and operational data aligns and informs strategic decisions.
    • Provide oversight and strategic alignment across inside sales, outside sales, project management, and business development teams.
    • Ensure seamless handoff from sales to operations, with a focus on margin protection, customer satisfaction, and scope clarity.
    • Mentor the Director of Sales and help set and enforce KPIs across the sales cycle.
    • Mentor and develop frontline managers and supervisors with a focus on leadership, decision-making, and accountability.
    • Set a tone of ownership, urgency, and team-oriented leadership across the organization.
    • Be willing to “pick up a shovel” when needed—demonstrating humility and commitment to the team.
    • Serve on the executive team and attend board meetings to keep company board of directors apprised of performance to financial budgets, emerging market trends, and strategic opportunities.
    • Own and continuously improve safety practices across all operations.
    • Ensure all field operations meet OSHA and industry-specific compliance standards.
    • Champion a culture of safety and risk management across job sites and teams.

    Qualifications:

    • Progressive leadership experience in construction, stormwater, utilities, field services, or related industry
    • Proven ability to build and scale operational systems in a growing or multi-crew environment
