    Company: Redd Summit Ranches

Location: Central Utah (Spanish Fork area) with travel to multiple ranches

    Department: Executive

    Schedule: Full Time

    POSITION SUMMARY

Redd Summit Ranches is seeking a results-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to serve as the operational backbone of a 4,500+ cow outfit spanning over 1 million acres of range ground across federal and private lands in Utah, Nevada, and Colorado. The COO is the critical link between executive leadership and ground-level ranch operations, responsible for translating the founder’s vision into measurable operational and financial outcomes.

This role demands a leader who works shoulder to shoulder with the CEO, CFO, and Ranch Operations Manager to drive profitability, enforce budgetary discipline, and ensure that strategic initiatives are executed at every level of the organization. The ideal candidate combines a strong financial acumen with hands-on ranching knowledge, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to build systems that ensure information flows freely between leadership and the field.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

    Strategic Leadership & Vision Implementation

    • Serve as the primary executor of the founder’s vision, ensuring strategic priorities are translated into actionable operational plans across all ranches.

    • Work shoulder to shoulder with the CEO on weekly strategic alignment, providing candid operational updates and surfacing issues before they become problems.

    • Partner closely with the CFO to develop, implement, and enforce budgets, financial targets, and ROI benchmarks for each ranch and the organization as a whole.

    • Collaborate directly with the Ranch Operations Manager to ensure day-to-day operations align with strategic goals and financial expectations.

    • Implement and champion the EOS/Pinnacle management system across the organization (training provided).

    Financial Accountability & Performance

    • Own full accountability for operational budgets and financial results across all ranches, including hitting ROI targets set by leadership.

    • Develop and implement operating ratios and key performance indicators to measure profitability and operational efficiency at each location.

    • Allocate resources effectively across ranches and operations, ensuring capital is deployed where it generates the greatest return.

    • Oversee financial accounting at the operational level, working in lockstep with the CFO to ensure accurate reporting and forecasting.

    • Apply financial principles as espoused by Ranch Management Consultants and Ranching for Profit School.

    • Oversee NRCS projects and capital improvements, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

    Communication & Information Flow

    • Serve as the communication bridge between executive leadership and ranch-level employees, ensuring that leadership initiatives are clearly understood and implemented at the ground level.

    • Build and maintain systems and rhythms that ensure operational data, challenges, and opportunities flow freely and promptly back to the CEO and CFO.

    • Provide clear, consistent leadership communication to all ranch employees, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and shared purpose.

    • Manage relationships with key external stakeholders including bankers, BLM, Forest Service, SITLA, NRCS, and landlords.

    Operational Oversight

    • Oversee operations and profitability of multiple cattle ranches across three states on both federal and private lands.

    • Continually monitor and evaluate performance of each ranch, making timely adjustments to optimize outcomes.

    • Share ownership with the Ranch Operations Manager on cattle marketing efforts, including investment cattle, short-term cattle, and feedlot operations.

    • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations governing ranching operations.

    • Maintain a regular on-ranch presence (minimum 2 days per week, including overnight stays as needed).

    • Travel frequently to ranch locations across Utah, Nevada, and Colorado.

    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

    • A Master’s degree in Business Administration or Livestock Production is preferred.

    • Strong financial background with a deep understanding of both the macro and micro elements of the cattle market.

    • Demonstrated experience managing operational budgets and delivering measurable financial results.

    • Extensive experience with livestock production on large-scale cattle ranches.

    • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders—from front-line ranch hands to executive leadership, bankers, and federal land managers.

    • Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to implement leadership directives at the ground level and ensure information flows back to decision-makers.

    • Self-motivated, independent, and proactive in taking initiative.

    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

    • Familiarity with federal and state regulations governing ranching operations.

    • Experience with farming operations is preferred.

    • Willingness to travel frequently to different ranch locations across multiple states.

    • Must reside in or around the greater Spanish Fork area, or be willing to relocate, with proximity to ranches in Utah, Nevada, and Colorado.

    • DO NOT apply if you interpret every challenge or change of plans as a “crisis.”

    • DO apply if you plan ahead but are flexible, adaptable, and optimistic in your approach to challenges.

If you are a results-driven operational leader with a passion for ranch management, a strong financial mindset, and the communication skills to connect executive strategy with ground-level execution, we invite you to apply. This position offers growth opportunities, recognition, and competitive compensation within our organization. Annual bonus based upon ROI performance.
