Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – E-Commerce Marketplace Transformation
Location: Remote or Hybrid | Industry: Machinery / AgTech / Industrial Equipment | Type: Full-Time Executive

    Overview:
Our client is a 50-year-old, highly profitable legacy business that has become a trusted leader in wholesale auctions for heavy machinery, farming equipment, construction tools, and more. With a strong national footprint and loyal customer base, the company is entering an exciting new phase—transforming into a modern digital platform and e-commerce marketplace.

We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead this transformation. This is a rare opportunity to architect the future of a category leader by building out scalable, secure, and high-performance marketplace infrastructure from the ground up.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Lead Digital Modernization: Re-architect and rebuild the company’s web stack to support a scalable e-commerce and auction marketplace, including real-time bidding, inventory search, payment, and logistics tools.

    • Platform Strategy: Spearhead the development of a unified B2B/B2C platform for wholesale equipment transactions across buyers, sellers, and brokers.

    • Tech Team Leadership: Build and scale a high-performing engineering team (in-house and external).

    • Innovation & UX: Drive innovation around customer experience—mobile, web, and backend—making buying and selling equipment as easy as buying on Amazon or Carvana.

    • Product Collaboration: Work closely with executive leadership, product, operations, and sales to prioritize and deliver tech initiatives that drive business growth.

    • Data & Infrastructure: Establish cloud infrastructure, DevOps, data warehousing, and modern APIs to unlock new revenue opportunities via digital services, analytics, and integrations.

    • Security & Compliance: Build with integrity and security-first mindset to protect user data, financial transactions, and sensitive auction details.

What Are Some of The Immediate Focus Areas?

    • Auction Cloud (Enterprise Auction Platform): 80% complete and mission-critical. You’ll be responsible for bringing this new flagship platform to completion and launching it at scale.

    • Mobile App Development: Build native iOS and Android apps that connect directly to Auction Cloud, creating seamless auction experiences for buyers and sellers in the field.

    • Ag IQ & Asset Manager (Launching August 15): Spearhead the launch and continued development of Ag IQ, an AI-driven appraisal engine, and Asset Manager, a real-time dashboard for inventory and valuation tied into Auction Cloud.

    • AI Integration: Help us bring next-gen intelligence to agriculture and machinery. We need a CTO with hands-on experience integrating AI into enterprise-grade software to unlock new insights, automation, and user value.

    Ideal Profile:

    • CTO or VP of Engineering experience at a marketplace, SaaS, or platform-based company.
    • Proven success launching enterprise platforms and leading product from MVP to scale.
    • Expertise with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS or similar), microservices, and API-first design.
    • Experience building native mobile apps and integrating real-time data dashboards.
    • Passion for innovation and practical application of AI in B2B software.
    • A grounded, collaborative leader who fits into a family-oriented, humble, and hard-working culture.
    • Bonus if you’ve modernized legacy systems or worked in AgTech, industrials, or equipment verticals.

    • Join a financially sound company with decades of customer trust and industry credibility—ready to invest in digital innovation.
