    Job Title: Child Care Business & Training Specialist Organization: The Early Care and Learning Council Reports To: Director of Child Care Supply Status: Full-Time/Exempt

    Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 Location: Albany, NY (Hybrid). Up to 25% statewide travel. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

    Organizational Overview

    The Early Care and Learning Council (ECLC) is dedicated to strengthening the quality, accessibility, and sustainability of early care and learning systems for children, families, and providers. ECLC advances this mission through collaboration, data-informed decision-making, and strong operational infrastructure that supports our programs and partners.

    Position Overview

    This role leads training and hands-on business support for family-based and center-based childcare providers across New York State. The Child Care Business & Training Specialist helps providers strengthen operations, improve sustainability, and navigate the business side of early childhood education. The position also coordinates a statewide network of Business Specialists within Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) agencies, ensuring consistent, high-quality support to providers.

    Key Responsibilities

    Training & Technical Assistance

    Design training and technical assistance on child care business operations topics (budgeting, enrollment, policies, sustainability)

    Ensure offerings are accessible, culturally responsive, and aligned with child care provider needs

    Statewide Coordination

    Lead and support a network of CCR&R Business Specialists across New York State

    Facilitate onboarding, regular communication, and peer learning opportunities

    Develop and manage shared tools, resources, and training materials

    Program Implementation & Partnerships

    Oversee initiative activities to meet funder and organizational goals

    Track participation, outcomes, and key metrics in collaboration with internal teams

    Build relationships with CCR&Rs, state partners, and other stakeholders

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, early childhood, public administration, or related field

    5+ years of experience in small business support, training, or program management

    Strong understanding of small business operations (experience with childcare businesses preferred)

    Experience leading trainings, coaching, and/or technical assistance

    Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across a statewide network

    Strong communication and relationship-building skills

    Work Environment

    Hybrid work environment with travel across New York State

    Primarily computer-based with a fast-paced workflow
