Position Summary
Bright Shadows Telepsychiatry Services is seeking a compassionate and experienced Child Therapist to provide mental health counseling services to children, adolescents, and families. The Child Therapist will deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions that support emotional regulation, behavioral development, family functioning, and overall mental wellness. This role involves collaboration with parents/guardians, psychiatric providers, schools, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure comprehensive treatment planning and continuity of care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide individual therapy services to children and adolescents.
Conduct age-appropriate biopsychosocial and diagnostic assessments.
Develop individualized treatment plans addressing emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.
Provide family therapy and parent coaching when clinically appropriate.
Utilize evidence-based treatment modalities such as:
Play Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT)
Behavioral Therapy
Solution-Focused Therapy
Monitor treatment progress and modify interventions as needed.
Provide crisis assessment and intervention when required.
Documentation & Compliance
Complete clinical documentation within organizational standards (typically within 72 hours).
Maintain accurate treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Ensure documentation meets medical necessity and insurance requirements.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, ethical guidelines, and state licensing regulations.
Care Coordination
Collaborate with Psychiatrists, PMHNPs, Case Managers, Peer Support Specialists, and school personnel.
Communicate treatment recommendations with parents/guardians.
Provide referrals for additional services when appropriate.
Participate in clinical staff meetings and case consultations.
Telehealth & Patient Engagement
Provide therapy services via secure telehealth platforms and/or onsite sessions.
Maintain a professional and confidential therapeutic environment.
Implement engagement strategies to reduce no-shows and improve treatment adherence.
Maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries in virtual settings.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field.
Active licensure or associate licensure in applicable state(s):
LPC / LPC-A
LCSW / LCSWA
LMFT / LMFTA
Experience providing therapy to children and adolescents.
Knowledge of child development and family systems.
Ability to obtain credentialing with insurance panels.
Preferred Qualifications
Play Therapy certification or training.
Experience with trauma-informed care.
Experience working with ADHD, behavioral disorders, anxiety, depression, or autism spectrum concerns.
Experience in telehealth or outpatient behavioral health settings.
