    Qualifications

    Ability to communicate and interact effectively with hospitals, social service organizations, community groups, individuals, and families in the community.

    Ability to manage time effectively to complete assigned work in a timely manner

    Ability to maintain confidentiality

    Enrollment and in good standings at an accredited Master of Social Work program, or related field (related fields can include Masters of Science or Arts in Clinical Psychology, Professional Psychology, or related; but shall not include Bachelor level or doctoral/post-doctoral students)

    Prefer second level internship applicants or Advanced Standing Students

    Ability to maintain a regular work schedule, which will include a minimum of 12 hours per week but not exceed 35 hours per week

    Hours may be completed during daytime, evening and weekend shifts as agreed upon prior to start date

    Students are expected to complete hours between two semesters, unless otherwise agreed upon prior to start date

    Specializations may include Addictions, Advanced Clinical, Forensic or undetermined.

    Interview and background check must be completed by the Children’s Advocate Group prior to start date

    Affiliation Agreement must be agreed upon between educational institution and the Children’s Advocate Group prior to start date

    Responsibilities

    HOURLY RATE: This will be an unpaid internship in return for supervision provided by a LCSW level clinician

    Maintain an assignment of incident reports to follow up with and provide appropriate social service responses

    Perform crisis intervention, which involves assessing and evaluating the emotional well-being of individuals and determines whether they are in need of immediate hospitalization and/or linkage to appropriate treatment needs

    Participate in social service therapies/counseling of in person and remote sessions with clients.

    Provide short term counseling to individuals and families

    Make referrals to other agencies and consults with these agencies

    Maintain an ongoing professional relationship and act as a liaison with schools, courts, other social service agencies, and professional organizations, as needed

    Act as a liaison with various community groups in effort to coordinate and interact prevention efforts, as needed

    Attend meetings of various social service organizations and groups for the purpose of maintaining knowledge of resources and access of those resources, as needed

    Attend weekly supervision meetings with supervisor for ongoing learning and professional development

    Maintain a professional and responsible conduct as a representative of the Naperville Police Department within and outside of department duties

    Perform other related duties as assigned

    Children’s Advocate Group is seeking new employees to perform as part time, non-paid interns for the upcoming academic year.
