    Children’s Behavioral Health (CBH) specialize in providing direct services and case management to children, adolescents and adults with behavioral and medical health needs, as well as those supervised by government subsidized programs, in their homes or through community-based resources. Pathways offers a full spectrum of social service and behavioral health solutions, including Youth & Family Services, Adult Services, and Prevention Services.     SUMMARY

    Authorization Specialist – Full Time

    The person in this position is responsible for performing work duties essential to ensure accurate verification of Autism Benefits, and entering of authorizations. Assignments are varied in nature and are performed under the direction of the Authorization/Data Entry Department Supervisor

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Verification of Autism Benefits including identifying authorization process with appropriate office.

    Entry of patient demographics, financial responsibility, diagnosis and authorizations for assigned lines of business.

    Maintains detailed records as required.

    Interacts with staff, payers, and agencies to answer questions, obtain information, and resolve issues.

    Recognizes problem accounts and notify appropriate staff or supervisor to assist in problem resolution.

    Participates in the training of new staff members.

    Attends and participates in payor meetings/seminars as needed.

    Maintains open, positive, cordial, team-oriented lines of communication with Authorization/Data Entry Supervisor and other staff members.

    Contributes to the Authorization/Data Entry Department team through positive attitude, respectful interaction, innovative ideas, efficiency, and ethical behavior.

    Performs related work as required.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    Technical training from an accredited program in medical office procedures which include billing and coding with at least two years of related work experience or; any combination of training and experience which provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position.

    Must have PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Clearances

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    Computer skills with billing software, Microsoft Excel, and key-boarding skills.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial documents. Ability to respond effectively when problems arise. Ability to clearly communicate operations within the department.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to apply basic mathematical skills. Ability to apply mathematical operations as related to finances.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
