Who We Are
Children’s Center is a private, non-profit child abuse intervention center accredited by the National Children’s Alliance. Children are referred to us by law enforcement agencies, child protective workers, parents, teachers, health care providers, and others concerned for their welfare. Our mission is to work with the community to end child abuse and neglect through assessment, treatment, and prevention. Our vision is to build a world where all children feel safe, valued, and heard.
The Role
The Marketing & Communications Specialist plays a key role in creating and maintaining our marketing activities, online presence, and external communications. This position also develops public relations and social media strategies and coordinates media and marketing efforts to promote the mission and services of Children’s Center.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Creates and curates compelling written and visual content for various platforms, including website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and marketing collateral, while ensuring it is sensitive to trauma survivors' needs.
- Ensures content aligns with the organization's mission and values and maintains a consistent brand voice.
- Develops and executes social media strategies to expand the organization's online presence while being mindful of potential triggers for trauma survivors.
- Monitors and analyzes social media metrics to track engagement and make data-driven improvements.
- Creates, manages, and segments email lists for targeted communication.
- Designs and executes email marketing campaigns to reach donors, volunteers, and stakeholders.
- Supports relationships with media outlets and assists in managing press inquiries and interviews.
- Drafts and distributes press releases and media kits to promote events and initiatives.
- Collaborates with Prevention and Community Engagement Department to support events and engagement of partners, businesses, and community members.
- Designs graphics and visual assets for various marketing materials, ensuring they are culturally respectful, and trauma informed.
- Ensures all materials adhere to the organization's brand guidelines.
- Analyzes marketing data and produces reports to assess the impact of campaigns and initiatives.
- Uses data to refine marketing strategies and maximize reach and engagement.
- Promotes and supports the marketing of fundraising events, community initiatives, and campaigns.
- Develops event marketing materials and coordinates promotional efforts.
General:
- Represents the mission, values, and programs of Children’s Center in all facets of the position.
- Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

What We Require:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, creative writing, strategy, or campaign writing.
- Valid driver’s license, motorized vehicle, and vehicle insurance. Ability to transport self reliably to and from fundraising activities and events.
- Ability to communicate in English effectively, including clarity of thought, and grammar, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience in or ability to learn CRM database management.
- Ability to do simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to pay attention to details, prioritize tasks, problem solve, act with discretion and be gracious.
- Ability to work effectively alone, as part of a group, or as a team leader depending on context and needs.
What We Prefer:
- Public speaking experience.
- Prior working experience in a non-profit organization.
Additional Information:
This position allows for a hybrid work schedule where the employee can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on the demands of the task and organization.
Some evening and weekend hours are required to assist with fundraising and community events.
