    Job Description

    Children’s Therapy Center is looking for Early Childhood, Childcare Volunteers to assist our Early Intervention (EI) team’s childhood specialists in caring for children of our EI program and their siblings while parents attend a12-week educational workshop focused on early childhood language, social and literacy skills.

    Volunteers are needed:

    • Weekly each Tuesday starting April 24th through July 24th, 2018
    • Location: Children’s Therapy Center of Kent: 10811 SE Kent Kangley Road
    • 2 hours, from 3:15pm-5:15pm
    • For 12 weeks 4/24-7/24 excluding July 4th

    As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to:

    • Interact with early intervention program participants birth-three and their siblings
    • Aid in projects and activities in an environment conducive to learning
    • Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating, contributing, and reflecting on a continuous basis
    • Communicate with children, parents, and Early Intervention professionals in support of our mission
    • Model developmentally appropriate activities and positive classroom management techniques during workshop delivery
    • Complete setup and cleanup duties; plan and lead appropriate activities – if desired
    • Other tasks as needed
    • Volunteers will also have the opportunity to observe the parent-workshop on occassion
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • All volunteers will be required to consent to a criminal background check, providing complete and accurate information
    • Demonstrate an interest in child development and developmentally appropriate practices
    • Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of all program participants and their parents
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to regularly commit to the 12-week need for volunteers as specified above
    • Prior experience working with children is preferred but not required
