    Job Description

    Children’s Therapy Center is looking volunteers interested in assisting with our Summer Camp Therapy Sessions.  Our Summer "Camp" sessions are 90 minute group therapy sessions,designed with fun activities to help our kids work on their cognitive, physical, sensory, social, and/or motor skills and enhance their self-esteem.  All Camp Sessions are co-lead by 2 Pediatric Therapists (Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and/or Phyical Therapist).  Volunteers will have the opportunity to interact directly with kids, while learning about various therapies and techniques in these fun, active sessions.

    Volunteers are needed for Multiple Sessions:

    • July and August 2018
    • Location: Children’s Therapy Center of Kent: 10811 SE Kent Kangley Road, Kent, WA 98030
    • 4 hours, from 2pm-6pm
    • Mondays & Wednesdays OR Tuesdays & Thursdays
    • We are looking for volunteers who can commit for at least 4 weeks

    As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to:

    • Interact program participants; children with developmental delays and disabilities
    • Aid in projects and activities in an environment conducive to learning
    • Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating, contributing, and reflecting on a continuous basis
    • Communicate with children, parents, and staff in support of our mission, helping each child reach their fullest potential
    • Model developmentally appropriate activities and positive group management techniques during actities
    • Complete setup and cleanup duties
    • Other tasks as needed

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Must be at least 16 years of age.  Volunteers under 18 must obtain parent/guardian consent.
    • All volunteers will be required to consent to a criminal background check, providing complete and accurate information
    • Demonstrate an interest in child development and developmentally appropriate practices
    • Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of all program participants and their parents
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Demonstrate the ability to stay calm and follow the lead of the treating therapists
    • Ability to consistently commit for volunteers as specified above for at least 4 weeks
    • Ability to report to all volunteer commitments timely, dress appropriately, with the ability to actively participate for a least 90 mintues continuously
    • Prior experience working with children is preferred but not required
