About the Role:
At Dairy Queen, we don’t just make treats—we create smiles and positive memories for our customers (fans). As a Chill Area Crew Member, you help bring that experience to life by ensuring the overall success of the chill area job function. This includes assembling, and presenting completed soft serve and Blizzard treat orders, including stocking, cleaning and maintaining all customer areas in a clean, safe, pleasant manner and to all restaurant safety and health code standards. This role combines attention to detail and operational awareness to ensure our fans have an experience in accordance with established PRIDE standards.
Full-time, 9:00am-5:00pm. Must be available for shifts to be scheduled Monday-Friday, as well as Sunday.
Key Responsibilities:
Assemble and Present Treats
Prepare treat products following restaurant, health and safety standards and procedures quickly and accurately.
Properly and safely operate and maintain restaurant equipment including related chill equipment while following all health and safety standards.
Clean work area, organize and stock needed items. Move various treats, paper and cleaning items from other sections of the building (or outside building) to the immediate work area.
Completes assigned prep work for stocking and setting up of the chill area.
Controls the food production process.
Monitor product expiration dates and rotate inventory using FIFO (first in, first out) methods.
Fan Experience
Be an ambassador of the Dairy Queen brand and be professional in every aspect of performance.
Enthusiastically greet and welcome fans.
Answer fan questions about product ingredients and preparation.
Calmly solve fan concerns and embrace Dairy Queen’s service recovery standards.
Strive to exceed fan expectations and deliver fan-first service through timely and quality service.
Teamwork & Chill Area Operations
Communicate clearly, quickly and politely with co-workers to ensure correct order is served to the customers.
Be pleasant and alert to customer needs.
Be a willing team player and maintain a cooperative, harmonious working relationship with management and fellow team members.
Create and maintain a positive, clean, and inviting environment for fans and team members.
At all times exhibit a genuine passion for excellence.
Break down and clean the chill area thoroughly at the end of every day as assigned by a manager or shift leader.
Wash counters, tables, restrooms, trash receptacles, gather trash and remove from dining/service areas to proper receptacle, sweep, mop, stock and other cleaning tasks. Occasionally need to be out of the building (i.e., parking lot, freezer, trash container areas, etc.) for parking lot pick-up, trash removal and other maintenance and cleaning activities.
Inform immediate supervisor promptly of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Ability to practice established food handling procedures and comply with any local health regulations.
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with fans (customers) and team members.
Excellent customer service skills; demonstrates good manners, a positive attitude, and professionalism at all times.
Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of personal accountability.
A team player with a willingness to learn, take direction, and support others.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and accuracy.
Ability to stand for long periods of time, frequently bend and twist, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working in and out of an environment with different temperature ranges.
Ability to clean up after all kinds of messy situations.
Willingness to work around common allergens, including nuts.
Ability to read order monitors.

Daily direction from Shift Lead or Manager on Duty.
Overall Supervision and performance management from General Manager.
