Northbound Logistics Analyst
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager Operations in Business Administration, this role will focus on managing and executing the day to day operational requirements for northbound liner shipments. This individual will assist cargo customers with customs clearance processes via their brokers, rate and cost verification, coordinate cargo dispatch and delivery along with other general service inquiries. The representative will work cross functionally with sales, CBP, USDA, FDA, port personnel, third party providers, and documentation to execute day to day operations while seeking process improvement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Arrival Notification Process– Distribute arrival notices to all inbound customers in a timely manner. Ensure customer is aware of all requirements regarding shipment with respect to filing with US Customs and any other government organizations as deemed necessary for the product being imported (ie. ISF, Customs Entry).
Cargo Delivery Execution: Coordinate delivery of product with customer while ensuring prompt delivery and adherence to Customs inspections and cargo release timelines. Work with inland carriers to ensure capacity is available at time of release in order to execute as quickly as possible.
Internal Coordination Process: Liaison with sales, documentation, US ports and Central America to resolve any discrepancies or problems that may rise. Proactively work with Customer on potential issues. Validate pricing and manage contracts effectively. Ensure sales is advised of problems and actions taken.
Customer Inquiries- Systematic follow up on general and specific questions. Address order confirmations or Central American inquires. Document/research issues
Back Office Management – Use transportation management system to assign deliveries to carriers. Maintain and update billing rates for carriers. Close out deliveries and reconcile system at the end of each vessel in order to ensure all vendors are paid on a timely basis. Arrive vessels as needed for US ports
Other Duties as Assigned - Participate in Process Improvement efforts in which other responsibilities may be assigned as needed
Understand service profile and industry market and guidelines to assist customers in a consultative nature with all matters related to our import process

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent applicable experience require
3 years’ relevant experience required; import/export or logistics
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Basic understanding of customs processes and procedures
Strong relationship building and customer service skills a must
Analytical and problem-solving skills, experience in taking initiative and making appropriate decisions. Planning and organizing skills essential.
Strong detail orientation and communication skills essential
Proficiency with computer systems and applications (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint essential).
Proven ability to take direction from multiple sources
Ability to show personal initiative and commitment
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment
Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at desk or computer terminal
Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday
Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties
