HVAC Summer Internship - McAlester/StiglerDescriptionOur summer intern program is an 8-week temporary, paid program that runs from the end of May through the end of July in 2022.Pay Rate: $14.50/hr.Job Purpose or Objective: Receive on the job training, experience and knowledge, required to apply for and obtain a Mechanical Journeyman license in the state of Oklahoma, with the ultimate goal of becoming a licensed HVAC Technician for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.Primary Tasks: -Work with and alongside licensed HVAC/R Technicians on all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, & refrigeration issues to include but not limited to: installation, operation, repair, and preventative maintenance of all stated systems. -Learn, train with, and obtain technical knowledge from all members of the team. -Become familiar with and follow all HVAC & refrigeration systems building code requirements. -Assist Technicians with procurement document reviews and in the contracting of third- party vendors. -Develop the ability to provide cost estimates for all HVAC & refrigeration projects. -Develop the skills necessary to read and interpret construction documentation, schematics, panel schedules and other critical records, ensuring they are correct and maintained in accordance with Choctaw Retention Policy. -Work alongside technicians to develop the troubleshooting skills necessary to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, identify and replace defective control modules. -Work towards achieving the knowledge and skill sets required to apply for a Mechanical Journeyman license in the state of Oklahoma with the future goal of applying for the exam. -Perform other aspects of Facilities Management to include but not limited to: carpentry, wall prep, painting, plumbing, and electrical installation. -Other duties as may be assigned. Minimum Requirements: -A High School Diploma or equivalent required -Must maintain a valid driver's license -Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, basic repair and maintenance. -Mechanically inclined and be able to learn various technical/mechanical requirements of the job -Basic knowledge of math. -Basic knowledge of power tools, cutting torches, gauges and meters. -Choctaw Nation CDIB or Choctaw Member Status -Must be available to work 40 hours per week, 8 consecutive weeks -Must be currently attending an accredited college, university, or postsecondary education institution -Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPS) of 2.5; 3.0 GPA or greater.
