    Quality Technician - Intern Responsibilities Position Summary To provide support to the QC manager and lead chemist by assisting with short- and long-term goals aimed at eliminating product variance and accomplishing company projects assigned. Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Work within a lab, office, and manufacturing setting as required - Use basic lab equipment such as ovens, viscometers, scales, hand tools, and other testing equipment - Use a computer for emailing, reporting, documenting, etc. - Work within a team environment providing focused / productive input during meetings, conference calls, and training sessions. - Evaluate and report on returned material (RGA's) - Help manage a continuous-improvement quality control system from the beginning of a product complaint to the end with an analytical response and corrective action statement to the customer - Help implement corrective actions into operating procedures to eliminate recurrence of a quality deviation - Help establish and implement quality procedures, standards, and specifications ensuring our products meet or exceed industry and customer standards - Work directly with the lead chemist in producing and testing lab samples - Work with existing and establish new lab test methods to obtain the most accurate data possible - Monitor quality performance by gathering data and providing statistical reports - Develop operating procedures designed to eliminate variance from human input - Multitasking while understanding and applying priority - Work directly with Purchasing, Sales, Technical, and Production departments to fully understand customer needs and how to deliver the most consistent product based on their needs - Document training parameters to ensure the end product quality does not deviate between employees involved - Help design and implement QC pass/fail tests and requirements - Follow company guidelines regarding safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures - Performs other duties as assigned or as business needs require. Objectives - Perform quality work within guidelines, deadlines, and processes with or without direct supervision. - Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers. - Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments. - Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations. - Perform all required duties as assigned and to the best of your ability. Qualifications Position Requirements Education: - College degree. preferable om a technical field Specialized or Technical Knowledge: - An understanding of Safety Data Sheets, regulatory requirements, limitations, admissions, calculations involved, etc. - Methodical and systematic thinker that can communicate intelligently and debate professionally - Self-motivated and team-oriented with the ability to work alone or within team on a project - Understanding nuances of technical information such as VOC and flammability limitations as well as regulatory admissions reporting - Required to handle hazardous and non-hazardous materials - Previous lab or quality control experience - Quality control certifications or experience Experience: - Good computer skills including MS Office. - Ability to perform/audit routine analysis of finished products and raw materials. - Ability to accurately perform and meticulously document work. - Good organization skills and attention to detail. - Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. - Ability to multitask, handle multiple projects at one time, and change priorities based on business needs. - Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team. - Able to work overtime, including weekends, when required. Physical Requirements - Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to type using a computer keyboard, visually read information off of a computer monitor and paper documents. - May be required to lift/move up to 25 lbs.. - Not allergic to chemicals or bio-substances found in laboratory or production facilities.
