Job Description
Christ Church CDC, non-sectarian 501c3 corporation, reaches out to people in need and initiates programs that will be a source of change and hope for people in Bergen County. We do this by practicing hospitality, building creative partnerships, marshaling resources and encouraging volunteer efforts. We seek to provide individual advocacy, guidance and mentoring; address gaps in services; and foster dignity, achievement and independence for each person we serve. CCCDC operates under the Bergen County Housing Health and Human Services Center, as a collaborative effort to end chronic homelessness using a Housing First model. The Center acts as a transitional center to move people from homelessness to housing by providing services like temporary shelter, housing placement and support, a wellness program, meals and a day program.
The Engagement Coordinator interacts with homeless individuals and those at risk of homeless onsite at the Bergen County Housing, Health and Human Services Center in Hackensack, NJ. The incumbent assists shelter guests in completing tasks to become "housing ready", as well as life goals. The Engagement Coordinator is also called upon to assist de-escalate clients experiencing crisis. Additional duties include supporting shelter oversight and updating client files.
This part-time position is scheduled for 2-3 8 hour shifts weekly. Additional hours are available if interested.
The ideal candidate will have social work experience or currently studying toward their degree.
