  • Responsibilities

    This role is responsible for reviewing the business or technical application landscape, matching business and/or IT needs to identify potential solutions, mapping current versus future states, and working with Lines of Business and IT teams to help guide “buy vs. build” decisions and successfully implement the chosen solution(s). The person in this role will be involved in all aspects of Application Lifecycle Management (e.g. planning, analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and day-to day support) and must be able to leverage application security and performance expertise to design secure and sustainable solutions for Wright-Patt. This includes enterprise-wide and department-specific business applications.  In addition, this role is responsible for providing input to the annual IT budgeting and planning process, including updates to the rolling 3-Year IT Operating Plan.

     

    • Solutions Design, Evaluation, & Selection - Facilitate / lead / participate in the identification and recommendation of application solution options to address business or IT needs. Solve business challenges via translating business needs to IT requirements, and leading project architectural design efforts to formulate efficient, standardized, and effective solutions. (20%)
    • Enterprise Architecture Alignment – Work with IT teams to ensure proper alignment with and adherence to enterprise technology standards (e.g. application frameworks, security frameworks, technology roadmaps, DBMS, etc.); Create or update application architecture roadmaps when necessary. Work to understand and ensure proper configuration and resourcing of enterprise applications.  (20%)
    • Requirements Analysis - Collaborate with Line of Business SMEs, Business Analysts, and IT teams to best understand the requested functional requirements and use cases, and determine if existing or new business or IT applications will meet the objectives. (20%)
    • Technical Design – Create and/or updates design documents; help ensure standards and architectural principles are implemented consistently across project efforts. Assist the governance oversight process by contributing to assessment of business requirements, solution alternatives, designs, and standards compliance for application programming interfaces, ETL designs, integration designs, batch job scheduling, and similar activities through solution design reviews (20%)
    • IT Strategy/Planning/Budgeting – Support IT leadership as needed to provide updates to strategy, 3-year plan, budget, and other activities as required. Operate with a 1-5 year view of technology direction and contribute to roadmaps for this timeframe based on business needs, technology trends, and required upgrades. (10%)
    • Policy / Procedure Adherence & Staff Support– Create, maintain, review, and enforce appropriate IT policies and procedures needed to maintain the integrity of the credit union’s IT systems. Help to train, guide and mentor other IT staff in adapting IT standards and best practices to provide superior quality solutions for business requirements (10%)

    Required Skills

     

    The ideal candidate in this position is skilled at managing, implementing, and operating applications in a complex, multi-system / multi-vendor computing environment, and leverages new and existing technology in support of business and IT objectives. Therefore, the following qualifications are required:  

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • A minimum of eight (8) years of IT experience in systems analysis and design, application development, and project leadership/management.
    • Experience in a financial institution is preferred.
    • Exposure to multi-tier enterprise IT infrastructure systems, including server and end-user compute, storage (SAN, NAS, data protection and archiving), network (media, switches and routers), database (preferably SQL Server and Oracle), virtualization (preferably VMware) and directory services (preferably Active Directory).
    • Proven ability to implement innovative technology solutions that address business and IT needs.
    • Practical experience creating application and technical design documentation.
    • Proven ability to work independently and on own initiative
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills are crucial, considering a broad audience ranging from executives to technicians, as well as ability to think clearly & analyze quantitatively.
    • Detail oriented, and ability to meet, and exceed, quality standards.
    • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with an ability to determine an appropriate level of detail given project milestones and target audience.
    • Excellent planning, organizational, communication and time management skills.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize projects and meet aggressive deadlines.
    • Ability to balance many tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-moving environment.
