We deliver secure, high-quality language support in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.

    We are seeking Chuj Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Chuj, a Mayan language spoken in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala and parts of southern Mexico, is a rare but critical language often required in asylum and immigration proceedings.

    Responsibilities

    Provide real-time Chuj ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum cases.

    Interpret accurately, impartially, and with cultural awareness in immigration and legal contexts.

    Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.

    Support both scheduled and urgent/surge interpretation needs.

    Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.

    Qualifications

    Native or near-native fluency in Chuj and English.

    2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, NGO, or government strongly preferred).

    Deep knowledge of Mayan/indigenous Guatemalan culture.

    Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and impartiality standards.

    Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.
