    About the Role:

    Newtown United Methodist Church is looking for a warm, organized, and dedicated Church Office Administrative Assistant to join our ministry team in Sandy Hook, CT. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve your community in a meaningful way while keeping the heart of our church running smoothly day to day. This is a part-time position, 15 - 20 hours a week, preferably mornings from 9:30 - 12:30, M-F.

    Responsibilities:

    Manage front office operations including answering phones, greeting visitors, and handling correspondence

    Prepare and distribute weekly bulletins, newsletters, and church communications

    Maintain church calendars, schedules, and facility booking coordination

    Support pastoral staff with administrative tasks, meeting preparation, and document management

    Maintain accurate membership records and church databases

    Coordinate with ministry leaders and volunteers to support church events and programs

    Process donations, invoices, and assist with basic bookkeeping tasks

    Requirements:

    Prior administrative or office experience required; church or nonprofit experience a plus

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office equipment

    Ability to use Canva, Mailchimp, etc.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills

    Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic environment

    Skilled in QuickBooks

    Bookkeeping skills desirable

    Warm, welcoming demeanor with a heart for making connections and service

    Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential information
