Carrier Sales Representative - Chicago, IL
As a Carrier Sales Representative, you will be responsible for ensuring maximum profitability by negotiating freight rates, and sourcing available carrier equipment to match with our customers’ freight. This role combines inside sales, account management and relationship building all into one job. This role is also a fast track to management as a Carrier Team Lead after growing as a stable book of business.
Responsibilities:
Developing an overall business strategy to build a book of business
Build a book of at least 10 carriers you have maintained a strong relationship with and book regularly
Provide and negotiate freight rates to carriers
Manage your daily shipments to ensure timely pick-up and delivery
Collaborate internally with your team on pricing strategy and account implementation plans
Communicate effectively both internally and externally
Resolve transportation problems with urgency and professionalism
Procurement of new carriers based on volume and lane density
Maintain strong grasp and market knowledge of shipping lanes, geography, and seasonality

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Freight brokerage or account management experience required
Bachelor's degree preferred
Proficient in Google Drive and Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, reports)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment and multitask
Strong attention to detail
Willing to be available after hours and weekends if needed
Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
