  • Responsibilities

    OUR INDUSTRY-LEADING CLIENT IN THE GREATER GRAND RAPIDS AREA IS SEEKING A MANUFACTURING ENGINEER TO JOIN THEIR TEAM.

    SKILLS

    • Translate product requirements into a mechanical specification and test plan to be used for development
    • CAD or analysis – solid works
    • Understanding of machine design theory and make accurate calculations.
    • Use SolidWorks software to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings, images, & other forms of communication
    • Effectively and safely operate:
    • Mill
    • Drill Press
    • Lathe
    • Saws

    DAY TO DAY

    • Provide guidance to less experienced engineers on the team.

    • Develop specifications, rough sketches and formalizes them into working drawings.

    • Perform design optimization for parts and assemblies

    • Improve manufacturing practices, quality control improvement and documentation

    • Day to day support of mechanical system assemblies.

    • Developing solutions to solve daily challenges and production issues.

    • Create work instructions (MPI, TPI, QC), maintenance, trouble shooting, project acceptance, and develop processes for assigned project.

    • Develop and optimize manufacturing

    • Perform mechanical engineering projects to develop new or improved designs, new products, or improved manufacturability.

    • Train and mentor production operators

    • Analyze, evaluate, recommend, design and redesign machine systems, sub-assemblies, and related equipment by applying the theory and principles of mechanical engineering

    • Analyze machine and equipment specifications and develop practical design solutions

    • Modify machine or equipment design to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.

    • Provide technical assistance, either verbal or hands-on, to manufacturing personnel to solve start-up problems or production problems.

    • Observe assembly and sub-assembly operations and keeps aware of possible ways to improve the design for end use purpose or to improve the ease of manufacturing, keeping efficiency, safety and cost in mind.
