    THE OPPORTUNITY:

    The Volunteer Recruiter (VR) will be a member of the External Engagement team responsible for the recruitment of volunteer Citizen Teachers in Citizen Schools' Expanded Learning Time (ELT) program as well as the recruitment of volunteers in Citizen Schools' new in-school model, Catalyst.  The VR will manage a portfolio of community-based organization partners that provide volunteers and will work closely with the Director of Corporate Engagement (DCE) to leverage Citizen Schools' corporate partners to source volunteers. Specifically, the VR will plan and execute volunteer recruitment, steward existing relationships, and research and cultivate new relationships.

    Reporting to the Director of Corporate Engagement (DCE), the VR will work as part of a larger External Engagement team that leads both fundraising as well as civic engagement for the organization. The VR will also work closely with program staff in Citizen Schools' Expanded Learning Time sites and from the national Catalyst team to understand what competencies and skills are most needed in volunteers to partner successfully with teachers and students.  The role is an exciting opportunity for a very detail-oriented and highly organized, relationship builder with a sales mindset to learn the full breadth of volunteer and partnership management and operations.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    Volunteer Recruitment: Existing Partnerships

    • Engage current corporate and community partners (50+ institutions) as an opportunity for their employees to serve as Citizen Teachers in ELT or volunteers in Catalyst classrooms
    • Manage online postings of volunteer opportunities on corporate partner internal sites and other external platforms
    • Lead in-person lunch and learns at corporate and community partner offices or virtual info sessions to attract qualified candidates
    • Conduct 1:1 calls or in-person meetings with interested volunteers to generate interest and screen for qualifications

    Volunteer Recruitment: New Partnership Development

    • Research new institutions that could supply highly skilled, qualified, diverse and culturally competent volunteers for ELT and Catalyst with a focus on STEM organizations
    • Work with DCE to engage Council of Champions and the Chief External Engagement Officer (CEEO) to engage National Board of Directors to build prospect list and make introductions
    • Conduct cold outreach to local organizations including companies and academic institutions based on research
    • Attend events (tech meetups and other networking events) to build relationships with individual prospective volunteers and seek entre to CSR or employee engagement teams
    • Work with DCE to develop the donor pipeline through established and new corporate volunteer relationships

    Program Team Alignment

    • Work collaboratively with the regional ELT program team and National Catalyst team to understand the specific skills and competencies required for volunteer engagement
    • Leverage information provided by the regional ELT program team and National Catalyst team including planned location of programs and curriculum delivery to inform the recruitment strategy

    Systems Support

    • Ensure all contacts and conversation/meeting history with external volunteer prospects and institutional contacts  are consistently updated and 100% accurate in Salesforce
    • Database Management - Execute comprehensive clean-up and norming of volunteer records and contact lists
    • Data Management - Create and manage reports for invitation lists, targeted solicitations, newsletters, quarterly reports, volunteer follow-up, volunteer lead life cycle

    Event Support

    • Support DCE on planning and execution of annual Get CyCed spin event (fall) and WOW! Now fundraising breakfast (spring).  Provide logistical support and make select solicitations to corporate partners.

    Qualifications:

    • 3+ years of relevant experience (e.g. education, nonprofit administration, community outreach) preferred
    • Commitment to and passion for changing the educational outcomes of low-income students
    • Exceptionally strong project management skills; proven ability to develop and execute complex action plans and fierce detail-orientation
    • Strong team orientation and ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
    • Highly organized with the ability to track and manage multiple projects and staff simultaneously, including ability to prioritize work streams and meet deadlines
    • Proactive attitude, out of the box thinking, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
