    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The part-time HR Generalist will be responsible for performing HR-related duties professionally at Roeslein & Associates of Indiana.  This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruitment/employment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.  Estimating 25-30 hours per week.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Confer with management to learn and understand positions, and discuss workforce needs to prepare and implement a recruitment program with a primary focus on professional, administrative, and technical employees.
    • Manage the entire recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing and job post maintenance to recruiting and interview scheduling.
    • Work closely with colleges and other candidate sources to network, arrange opportunities, and support and grow pipeline relationships for Roeslein (includes travel to local schools and recruiting events).
    • Network with potential candidates utilizing the latest social media mediums.
    • Conduct high-quality searches, phone screens, and interviews with applicants to obtain work history, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities via phone, Teams, in-person interviews, both during and after regular business hours.
    • Set up and conduct orientations for new and transferred employees for Michigan City, IN.
    • Provide daily human resources support to the Michigan City, IN facility.
    • Maintain general awareness of company policies and procedures, answer current and former employee questions, and resolve policy issues.
    • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
    • Ensure employee referrals, signing bonuses, relocation reimbursements, and other financial payments are correctly processed, and/or distributed.
    • Understand health and ancillary insurances and assist with communicating benefit information to employees.
    • Through on-going and continued education, develop and maintain an essential understanding of employment laws, regulations and HR best practices (Title VII, FLSA, ADA, Leaves of Absence, STD/LTD, FMLA, USERRA, WC, etc.)
    • Provides assistance to Human Resources Manager (based in St. Louis, MO headquarters).
    • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
    • Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

     

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist with interviews and reference checks; assist with new-employee orientations; create a career-pathing program.
    • Promote a positive working environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed in an office and uncontrolled atmosphere.  Exposure to harsh conditions—such as:  dust, fumes, chemicals, hazardous materials, noise, and varying weather and temperatures—for short periods of time is possible.  All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas. 

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.  Ability to lift and carry 10 lbs. on a regular basis is required.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.
    • At least two (2) years of experience in a Generalist role is required.
    • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) is strongly preferred.
    • Experience with engineering, manufacturing and/or construction environments is strongly preferred.
    • Ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work is required.
    • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
    • Must be able to handle several tasks with confidence.
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy is required.
    • Excellent organization and planning skills.
    • Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
    • Strong computer skills and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based programs are required.
    • Requires effective time management skills, personal conduct, and change management abilities.
    • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers, clients, vendors, and other business contacts.
