    Supervises: Employees, Interns, and Volunteers on the Santa Barbara community organizing team

    Expected Hours and Place of Work: This position may be performed partially remotely, with regular on-site duties required at the Santa Barbara worksites of Kingdom Causes, Inc. Occasional on-site visits to KCI’s Riverside, Orange, Los Angeles, San Diego, or Sacramento locations may be required. The incumbent works full-time Monday-Friday, and some evenings and weekends as necessary for optimal business function. This position requires regular local travel, primarily in Southern California.

    Position Overview

    The Santa Barbara Catalyst is a faith-based community organizer, ultimately responsible for growing Kingdom Causes, Inc.’s capacity to fulfill its mission by empowering people of faith to take strategic individual and collective action to directly support our organization and its affiliate partners and participate in issue campaigns (including but not limited to housing, anti-human trafficking, and Foster Care concerns). They must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment and be excited to work for a fast-growing nonprofit that works to provide solutions to complex social problems – ensuring that significantly better results are achieved, and resources are well spent. A qualified candidate will be an individual who has a deep respect for and understanding of a Christian worldview, and be a proven leader of interfaith and common good coalition building.

    Organizational Overview

    Kingdom Causes is a faith-based 501(c)(3) non-profit community organization encompassing various affiliate organizations including City Net, Sherpa Analytics, Home Again, Bedrock Creek Foundation, and others.

    Essential Functions

    ● Build 1:1 relationships with congregational leaders, clergy, and community partners in Santa Barbara County.

    ● Build intentional relationships with clergy and religious leaders: identifying mission-related interests and challenges in congregations, exploring how supporting Kingdom Causes meets congregational needs, and constructing strategies for congregational development in partnership with Kingdom Causes.

    ● Coach organizing interns and volunteers on best practices for transformative organizing, innovating systems change, and nonprofit fund development.

    ● Support in the process of grant writing and reporting as well as funder relations.

    ● Facilitate community meetings; identify and foster partnership alignments and shared strategies.

    ● Lead/deliver prayers, offering meditations, and sermons/messages with groups of Christians, or others, as requested

    ● Oversee and support catalyst/community organizing teams and subcommittees.

    ● Develop, implement, and maintain all Santa Barbara Community Organizing policies and procedures.

    ● Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports of Santa Barbara Community Organizing activities and outcomes

    ● Manage the assigned Community Organizing team’s budgets, staffing, and activities in alignment with Kingdom Causes’ mission and values.

    ● Oversee—in consultation with HR—all assigned Community Organizing staff recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, monitoring, and corrective action.

    ● Raise funds and in-kind donations to support the work of the Organization and its affiliates.

    ● Keep up to date on nonprofit fund development best practices, state, and federal laws regarding nonprofit fund development operations; comply with all laws and regulations regarding financial functions, and provide expert recommendations to Leadership on ensuring the organization’s legal and regulatory compliance.

    ● Through excellent leadership and teamwork, participate in ensuring progress toward the organizational vision.

    ● Provide excellent professional representation of the organization, serving as a liaison with development-related contacts (contractors, funders, vendors, etc.). Build and maintain excellent relationships with current and potential stakeholders.

    ● Cultivate relationships with staff that inspire and motivate and communicate openly with all internal stakeholders.

    ● Ensure that the assigned Community Organizing team complies with all laws, regulations, contracts, funders’ requirements, and organizational policies.

    ● Meet or exceed all goals established by the President/CEO.

    Marginal Functions

    • Provide support to various departments and the Executive Leadership Team as needed/requested.

    • Work with vendors, contractors, and consultants to achieve organizational goals, as needed and available.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    ● Ability to accomplish goals and produce valuable results with minimal supervision

    ● Ability to handle multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining creativity and strategic thinking and continuing to meet or exceed goals

    ● Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds with varying degrees of experience

    ● Ability to pass background checks successfully upon hire and throughout employment

    Education/Experience

    ● Minimum 5 years of professional experience in community organizing

    ● Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising, including in-kind and cash donations, donor development, donor management,
