Overview: The Development Director provides leadership to the organization's efforts to obtain and maintain financial and other support to sustain its work, including planned, annual, and deferred giving; approaches to individuals, foundations, and corporations. They drive the government fee-for-service grants/contracts identification, solicitation, and reporting program for Kingdom Causes, Inc. and its affiliate organizations, including City Net (homeless services). Please note that while this position is remote, the candidate may be required to attend onsite meetings, and trainings as necessary in Anaheim. Must be a resident of CA to be considered.Main Responsibilities
Meet or exceed the fund development goals set by the Executive Leadership Team
Successfully build and maintain a private donor (individuals, corporations, foundations) fundraising program (major gifts, grants, planned giving, endowments, corporate partnerships, special events, annual giving, etc.) to generate new (and mostly unrestricted) funds.
Maintain, improve, and grow the organization's existing fundraising programs.
Write, submit, and manage high-quality, persuasive proposals and reports to help meet all application, renewal, and reporting criteria for public and private fundraising for unrestricted operating funding, as well as restricted projects.
Formulate and implements policies and plans to meet the organization's short- and long-term objectives.
The successful Development Director will deliver:
Effective and efficient fund prospecting, funder research
Professional relationship management
Strong and effective grant writing and government contract proposal writing
Effective management of a portfolio of foundation, corporate, organization, and public funder relationships
Accurate and orderly recordkeeping
Timely and accurate report preparation and submission
Timely, accurate, and orderly management, writing, and submission of grant reports
Meaningful assistance in developing grant proposal budgets alongside the Programs and Finance teams
A thorough understanding and effective explanations of program data to funders and potential funders
Requirements
Four (4) or more years of grant writing/grants management experience for a nonprofit
Grantwriting/contract development experience with KCI/City Net's target funders (those funding solutions to homelessness and human trafficking, etc.)
Experience and existing network of professional contacts in philanthropy, government, and corporate giving in California
Deadline-driven, self-motivated results/outcome-oriented, empathetic, flexible, determined, and dynamic personality
Passion for and proven ability to foster teamwork and collaboration, and promote the organization's mission and vision
Strong customer focus, interpersonal savvy, and active listening
Exceptional organizational skills
Effective and professional networking and relationship management skills
Experience, enjoyment, and proven success in cultivating and maintaining productive, professional relationships with various stakeholders
Excellent and current knowledge of trends, techniques, and practices in grant fundraising with a demonstrated track record of writing and securing grants and contracts from government, private, and corporate funders
Strong ability to structure and articulate innovative proposals and partnerships
Excellent understanding and experience developing proposal budgets
Understanding of the importance of quality and timely data collection and reporting
Experience and enjoyment in analyzing program data
Excellent professional boundaries
Professional verbal and written communication skills (English)
Strong interpersonal, analytical, and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficient and confident PC and Microsoft Office Suite skills
Ability to accomplish goals and produce valuable results with minimal supervision
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining creativity and strategic thinking and continuing to meet or exceed goals
Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds with varying degrees of experience
Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
