Safety Coordinator Homeless Services Entry Level
Overview: City Net is seeking empathetic Safety Coordinators to join the Anaheim Community Care Response Team (Alternative to Policing) program. They will be dispatched to answer 9-1-1 calls and Anaheim Anytime requests for service for people without housing and mental health concerns. Our Safety Coordinators use problem-solving, empathy, and verbal de-escalation skills to maintain a safe and secure environment for guests while our Case Managers and Housing Navigators assist them in finding permanent housing and supportive services. City Net’s programs follow Housing First and Harm Reduction service models.Requirements

Strong problem-solving skills
High levels of empathy and understanding for people experiencing homelessness and presenting with multiple and urgent case management needs, substance use, health, and/or mental health concerns
High levels of responsibility, dependability, empathy, compassion, and positive attitude
Experience and enjoyment with providing timely, reliable, and responsive customer service
Ability to pass a Criminal History Background Check after offer acceptance and periodically throughout employment
Respectful and effective English-language verbal and written communication skills
Ability to write a clear and concise incident report
Ability to perform crisis intervention and verbal conflict de-escalation
Experience cultivating and maintaining productive, professional relationships with various stakeholders including customers, coworkers, volunteers, law enforcement and emergency service personnel, third-party vendors, etc.
Must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer
Proof of vaccination or weekly testing required. All City Net employees working in California are required by the California State Public Health Officer Order of July 26, 2021 to either be fully vaccinated or to submit proof of weekly testing for COVID-19.
Nice To Have
Experience interacting with people affected by homelessness, substance use disorders, chronic health, and mental health concerns, domestic and intimate partner violence, and/or human trafficking strongly preferred
High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
Direct service experience in a shelter, group home, detox/recovery, healthcare, or other location serving vulnerable populations preferred
Essential Functions
Monitor and ensure safety when dispatched to answer 9-1-1 calls and Anaheim Anytime requests for service for people without housing and mental health concerns.
Employ crisis prevention and intervention if a conflict occurs.
Diffuse all confrontations in a professional verbal manner.
Act as the liaison with police and other emergency services.
Report and document damage and incidents as necessary.
