  • Responsibilities

    Overview: Housing Navigators are responsible for helping clients obtain safe, sustainable permanent housing. They assess clients’ housing-related needs, assets, and barriers, identify the best housing options based on each client’s unique situation, and form and maintain relationships with housing managers, landlords, etc. as necessary to ensure clients can successfully obtain permanent housing. This position works five days per week, 8 hours each shift for a total of 40 hours per workweek.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM -4:30 PM

    Requirements

    Case management experience with City Net’s target populations (people affected by homelessness, substance use disorders, chronic health and mental health concerns, domestic and intimate partner violence, and/or human trafficking)

    Experience with section 8, Orange County Housing Authority & Orange County Housing Authority application processes and requirements

    The staff in this position will be required to drive a company vehicle and transport clients. For insurance purposes, drivers must be at least 25 years of age, have a valid CA Drivers License, and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report at the time of hire and throughout employment.

    Experience cultivating and maintaining productive, professional relationships with various stakeholders.

    Understanding of the importance of quality and timely data collection and reporting.

    Familiarity with the local housing market, national and local housing trends, and available housing resources required.

    Professional verbal and written communication skills (English)

    Strong interpersonal, analytical, and time management skills

    Proficiency in PCs and Microsoft Office and Google Suite

    Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining creativity and strategic thinking and continuing to meet or exceed goals

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds with varying degrees of experience

    Nice To Have

    Understanding of the HUD Housing Choice Voucher program and affordable housing resources

    Experience and professional contacts with homelessness services providers Orange County.

    Experience gathering and maintaining confidential client records, including intake paperwork, case notes, and client management system data entry.

    Experience with property management and/or landlord advocacy programs.

    Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field.

    Other Requirements

    May be required to drive a company vehicle to transport clients. For insurance purposes, drivers must be at least 25 years of age, have a valid CA Drivers License, and must pass a Motor Vehicle Report.

    Due to the nature of the work, this position involves variable scheduling. For example, there may be an early morning shift once per week (where the day's schedule would be 7:00am-3:30pm) or a weekly evening outreach (where the day's schedule would be 11:30am-8:00pm). Must be available for this type of variable schedule.
