    Athletic Program Coord.- Rec. & Parks - FLSA: Non-exempt; SHIFT: FT days/nights/wknds/spec. events] Salary $15.95 Hourly Location Oviedo, FL Job Type Full Time Department Recreation & Parks Job Number 18-048 Closing 10/9/2018 11:59 PM Eastern WORK OBJECTIVE Performs intermediate paraprofessional work coordinating a variety of recreation and athletic programs, including but not limited to flag football and softball leagues, volleyball, basketball, the rock climbing wall, cheerleading, and archery. Also responsible for the scheduling of staff, officials, and volunteers at programs and activities; maintains records and files; prepares reports; orders supplies and maintains inventory; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Supervision is exercised over part-time program staff and volunteers. Position reports to the Athletic Program Superintendent and/or the Senior Recreation Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification. Oversees athletic programs, activities, and events including but not limited to flag football, softball, basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, Start Smart, archery, rock wall, summer camp sports, etc. Supervises league officials, prepares schedule for league use of facilities, and assists in supervision of part-time staff and volunteers. Orders necessary equipment and supplies; oversees and schedules staff, programs, activities, and rentals. Registers participants; prepares league schedules and league standings. Prepares Recreation League calendar of events for the Athletics division. Researches, plans, and organizes programs; conducts surveys; and evaluates effectiveness of programs. Communicates, interprets, and enforces department rules and regulations to staff and the public. Performs a variety of office assistance tasks: answers telephone, maintains records and files, prepares reports, records daily operations, inspections, and maintenance logs; collects fees; reconciles accounts. Markets programs; prepares flyers and media releases; delivers flyers to businesses and other outlets. Provides and instructs movement on equipment and within classes; checks and monitors safety practices. Inspects, maintains, and inventories equipment used for assigned area. Provides high level of customer service. Prepares and sets up for events. Oversees the preparation and maintenance of fields. This position is considered non-essential, and the employee will not be required to work during a declared emergency, but may be required to work during an undeclared emergency or in the aftermath of an event associated with a declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the employee's Department Director will make the determination when the employee will be required to work. Performs related tasks as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Requires an Associate's degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a closely-related field and one (1) year or more of experience working in athletics, recreation, special events, summer camp, etc. Valid driver license (must obtain Florida driver license within thirty (30) days of employment) is required. Must obtain archery instructor certification within ninety (90) days from the date of hire. A Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a closely-related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. City of Oviedo Employee Benefits Section 125 Cafeteria Plan The following benefit premiums - Health, Vision, Dental, and Optional Group Life Insurance - are deducted on a pre-tax basis per Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code. Flexible Spending Account All full-time regular employees may participate in the Flexible Spending Account program for unreimbursed medical and dependent care expenses. Deductions are made from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis. There is a $2500 maximum per year for unreimbursed medical expense accounts and $5000 maximum for dependant care expense accounts. Health Insurance All full-time regular employees are covered under the Group Health Plan, administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Life Insurance The City sponsors a Group Term Life Insurance and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Policy for full-time regular employees in the amount of one times the annual salary rounded to the next $1,000. Employees have the option to purchase additional voluntary and dependent life insurance(s) at group rates. The coverage is effective on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Long-Term Disability Insurance Employees are enrolled in Long-Term Disability Insurance (LTD). The coverage is effective on the first of the month following completion of 30 days of employment. Dental/Vision Care/Short-Term Disability Employees may voluntarily participate in the Dental Plan, Vision Plan, and Short-Term Disability Insurance. The coverage is effective on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. There is no cost to you or your family for this service. Voluntary Retirement Plan A voluntary 457 deferred compensation plan is available for all employees. Retirement Programs All regular full-time employees (except certified firefighters and sworn police officers) are enrolled in the 401(a) Money Purchase Plan effective the 1st date of employment. Employees may make an irrevocable election to contribute between 1% - 10% (pre-tax) of their annual salary. The City will match up to 5% of the employee's annual salary based upon the amount the employee elects. The plan is a defined contribution (except for sworn police officers/certified firefighters) with a 5-year incremental vesting schedule. Sworn Police Officers and Certified Firefighters are enrolled in a defined benefit pension plan. Tuition Reimbursement (for job-related courses) Full-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement upon completion of the six-month probationary period. Pay Periods All employees are paid bi-weekly (every two weeks). For employee convenience, the City offers direct deposit services to checking/savings accounts at banking institutions/credit unions. Recreational Facilities and Activities The City of Oviedo Recreational Facilities may be used by full-time and part-time regular (budgeted) employees and their dependents at no cost/reduced cost, on a space available basis.
