Position Overview Position Overview The Part Time Instructional Coach is responsible for optimizing coaching performance and efficacy by maximizing the effectiveness of leadership and coaching best practices. This role reports to the Director, Instructional Coaching. Job Description Responsibilities Observations & Debriefs Observe each High Priority AmeriCorps member (ACM) in portfolios at least four times a month (with the Impact Manager (IM) or Team Leader (TL)) as they work either as a whole class support, one-on-one sessions, or as they lead a tutoring session with their focus list students. Track the key questions ACMs ask, student actions and responses, as well as the seating arrangements or examples of equations worked on. Debrief (DB) each ACM after each observation. Debrief conversations should include: o Reflections of the days small group session o Follow up on any notes/ steps from previous debrief session. o Review of student progress logs, sample work, data, grades, assessments for action steps towards growth o Model best practice and planning strategies & provide timely, current resources o The development of new action steps o Focus on priority students within the small group Other Responsibilities Deliver trainings to all ACMs on a variety of topics relating to pedagogy and planning (weekly at Learning and Development Days (LDD)). Data collecting by providing resources after analyzing data and compiling notes in the coaching log on ACMs needs and student academic goals. Design specialized work plans for teams or ACMs based on trends, needs, and challenges. Communicate these plans with IMs and TLs for vision unity. Strategic actions are taken based on these plans and delivered to the teams for student and ACM growth towards Impact Goals. Specialized training by providing on-going support and best practices to ACMs and teams based on observations and trends, these trainings may not happen during LDD. Coordinate resource sharing and best practice for the coordinator role for each team. Send newsletters of this to the ACMs each month. Engage in monthly Director Instructional Coach (DIC) team meeting where team dynamics, professional growth, coaching best practices, and team need/challenges/successes are shared. Attend monthly meetings for the Staff and Coaching teams. During these staff meetings, you will also attend monthly portfolio meetings to discuss team needs, trends, data, ACMs challenges and successes. Engage in peer observations to increase coaching craft and practices. Each coach is responsible for their own S.W.O.T and professional growth. It is encouraged that each coach seek professional conferences, books, webinars, etc. Participate in monthly reflection and debrief with DIC to discuss glows, grows, next steps, professional goals, Work Life Balance (WLB) goals, scoreboards, and needs/challenges. Qualifications Bachelors degree; management training through formal education (graduate or undergraduate), Masters Degree preferred 2-5 years of teaching experience with 3rd-9th grade (intermediate through high school experience). 1+ years of coaching certification, knowledge, and experience. 1+ years of experience in a leadership role. Strategic planning experience and delivery of findings to group at large. Adult facilitation & learning experience with the ability to plan and implement training and workshops that are engaging, interactive, and reflective. Communicating with key stakeholders and those within the CPS district as it relates to student and corps member progress and growth. Experience with NWEA and State assessment data analysis, delivery, and planning. Experience with common curriculum platforms in all media forms (LLI, DTMN, VMATH, ODESSEY, COMPASS LEARNING, ETC) Excellent organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, think critically, and deliver coaching tools with fidelity. Demonstrative social and emotional intelligence. Proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team. Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex environment with competing deadlines.
