This is an on-call position with an expected start date of June 6, 2022, and an end date of August 12, 2022. This position is expected to work no more than 39 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.Check out the DEN 2018 Internship Experience here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T6WZaTOO58&t=57sProgram Goals:• Create a career ladder opportunity for interns to gain first-hand work experience relative to DEN's business environment, mission, vision, and goals with the goal of convert-to-hire• Expose interns to the variety of career opportunities within the aviation industry• Empower interns to learn new job skills or improve on an existing skillset in a specific technical area(s)• Establish a professional mentorship relationship for interns and their mentorsThe Airport Emergency Management and Communications Department consists of the Emergency Management Operations, preparedness and Communications Center.The Emergency Management - Operations group; staffs the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) with a duty manager for 15 hours a day and is responsible as the Incident Commander (IC) or EOC manager for airport incidentsThe Emergency Management - Preparedness group; develops both in-class and computer based training as well as conducting several Federal Emergency management Agency (FEMA) courses. This group also manages the multi-year training exercise program as well as oversees the continuity planning for the entire airport, collating each business unit's plan into a single comprehensive continuity planAs an intern, you will have the opportunity to experience:Assist with developing materials for National Preparedness Month campaignAssist with developing materials for monthly preparedness topicsAssist with preparing for and conducting a full scale exerciseShadow Emergency Management Coordinator to learn more about exercise design and development, emergency management planning, and continuity planningShadow Online Instructional Designer to learn more about designing and developing online regulatory and emergency management trainingShadow Emergency Operations Managers in the EOC to learn more about Emergency Management operations activitiesAssist with annual FAA Inspection preparationsAbout YouWe are looking for candidates with some or all the following experience:Current enrollment in a college program leading to a bachelor's degree in emergency management, aviation management, or homeland defense, or a related field specific to the departmental and/or work assignment.Strong interest in emergency managementSelf-motivatedOrganizedHigh attention to detailStrong written and verbal communicationBasic computer skills (MS office suite)FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 & 800 are strongly desired but not necessaryWe realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications:Education: Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor's, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion)Experience: None Licensures/Certification(s): Require a valid Driver's License at the time of applicationLicenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employmentEquivalency: No substitution of experience for education is permittedOther requested documentation required to be considered for this position:Current college transcripts unofficial or official FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN).
