    ABOUT CITY OF BALTIMORE, MAYOR'S OFFICE OF EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT:

    The Mayor's Office of Employment Development (MOED) coordinates and directs workforce development initiatives responsive to the needs of Baltimore City employees and job seekers in order to enhance and promote the local economy.  At MOED, we view our mission broadly to deliver economic justice to our city!     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Enthusiastically promote WIOA/G2C services and initiatives throughout the community using bulletin boards, newsletters, posters, social media, etc.
    • Maintain job clubs at two designated Baltimore City high schools
    • Maintain updated information on programs and services available for client/customer populations
    • Recruit a minimum of 15 high school seniors at each designated Baltimore city high school
    • Enroll and complete the required Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE) for a minimum of 15 high school seniors at each designated school
    • Assist enrolled youth in navigating through educational and employment resources in the Baltimore metropolitan area
    • Identify internships and employment opportunities for enrolled participants.
    • Develop internships, job shadows and guest speaker opportunities.
    • Complete payroll packet submission and maintain log of hours worked.
    • Create in conjunction with enrolled youth a post-graduation transition plan (employment, post-secondary, advanced training, military) by April
    • Develop a positive working relationship with administrative staff of assigned Baltimore City high school

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Develop, foster and maintain effective working relationship with MOED clients, program participants/
    • customers, co-workers, public and private agency staff
    • Verbal and written communication skills; Presentation skills to conduct workshop training
    • Solid organizational skills; execute work assignments on time in the format required
    • Proficient in MS Office Product Suite to include MS Word, Excel, Outlook

    Capable of learning and using designated Agency and/or City/State software programs as required

    MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Two years of college with coursework in Psychology, Human Services or related subject; four years,
    • Bachelor's degree preferred
    • Two years of experience in vocational rehabilitation, job development, or related human service field
    • Global Career Development Certification is desirable, or an
    • Equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience
