Position Overview:
Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks is seeking Recreation Assistants (Community Aides) to work in one of our many Recreation Centers as part of the Mayor's Office of Employment Development's Hire-Up Program. This position participates in organizing and leading recreational sports, games and activities. This position receives close supervision from a technical supervisor. Responsible for answering inquiries regarding recreation center, programs and registers participants. Receives rules, regulations and methods of leading games and activities. Distributes and accounts for materials, equipment and supplies. Assist with summer and afterschool programs, may sit at the front desk to greet participants and guests. Work may require moderate physical exertion. Other duties as required or needed to meet the needs of the program.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
NOTE: This is a position of Trust. Those eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment will be required to authorize the release of criminal conviction information, to include fingerprinting, reference checks, child protective services check and submit to and alcohol testing.
