    This position is the Program Technician for the adult sports leagues. This position works out of an office at Bellevue City Hall with some of their schedule devoted to on-site duties associated with the program. The leagues have typically been basketball and volleyball, serving adults of all ages and ability levels. Pay range is $24 to $33 per hour. Positions in this classification provide clerical and program support to recreation/community programs or program facilities. The incumbent provides direct one-on-one and group assistance to a diverse group of people, including , teens, adults, and organizations sponsoring programs or desiring to participate in programs and use the facilities. The Recreation Program Technician maintains attendance records, athletic scores, and other statistical information necessary for reporting and funding programs; assists staff during programs by providing assistance to program participants; prepares facility for specific activities and cleans up after programs. The Recreation Program Technician is expected to also provide general office support by answering the telephone and greeting the public, typing, filing, and doing basic record keeping. Work hours may fluctuate considerably for positions in this classification in order to accommodate evening and weekend programs. Additionally, since incumbents provide direct assistance to participants and programs, time is spent moving equipment, lifting, and driving. Shifts/Hours: This position works seasonally on a varied schedule which may include Sunday afternoon/ evenings and weekday afternoon and evenings. Actual schedule dependent on number of locations, scheduled games per day and seasons. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists the Recreation Supervisor, Coordinator or Instructor with keeping participants safe, happy, and actively involved in select programs; provides direct assistance to those in need; instructs programs as needed. Responsible for answering phone calls, emails, and assisting customers - is the direct line of service for customers. Promote leagues/programs in a variety of media. Provides information and referral to program participants with special needs, their families and friends, and the general public. Prepares program sites for specific programs; moves equipment and supplies as needed for the day's program schedule; sets up rooms for programs. Delivers and picks up materials and supplies, including mail, messages, audio-visual equipment, etc.; distributes program information throughout the city and county. Processes program registrations and collects program fees; maintains required forms and information for each participant. Collects and maintains straightforward statistical information, including attendance data, participant characteristic data, team scores and averages, etc.; collects data needed for payroll. Maintains calendars for program schedules, building usage, rentals and special events. Types a variety of material using computer; copies, collates, and proofreads material; writes routine letters and memos; files reports, participant information and other administration information and communications. Supervision Received and Exercised: Supervises participants before, during and after scheduled programs. Qualifications General office experience and considerable experience in dealing directly and regularly with the general public. Knowledge of the assigned program characteristics, theories and practices specific to the assignment. Knowledge of general office procedures; knowledge of building and program security practices. Knowledge of safety practices and ability to recognize and eliminate unsafe situations or conditions. Ability to communicate in a concise and articulate manner with a wide variety of persons; ability to provide clear instructions. Ability to be sensitive to the needs of staff, the general public and program participants, and work with them in the most appropriate manner. Ability to maintain accurate and diverse records; skill in doing basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and averages. Ability to work on several different tasks at once; ability to deal well with frequent interruptions and demands; ability to be flexible and to adapt to different and ever-changing situations and people. Skill in writing clear and concise letters and memos; skill in synthesizing written information into succinct notes or outlines. Skill in typing and use of computer. Skill in driving a vehicle safely in all kinds of traffic and weather conditions. Education, Experience, and Other Requirements Education or training in recreation programming or area directly related to the specific position is desirable. Persons in this classification must acquire and maintain a First Aid/CPR Certificate and City of Bellevue Defensive Driving certification Washington State Driver's License. They must also have no history of conviction or crime against any person or no finding in any legal action of having sexually assaulted or exploited or physically abused any minor.
