    JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Assists Kitchen Supervisor in preparing and serving noon congregate and home-delivered meals.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Supervises when Kitchen Manager is absent. This includes meal preparation, cooking and handling the lunch greeting and announcements for the day.

    2. Assists in cleaning kitchen and helps keep dishes washed. Assists in maintaining clean cooking and serving areas.

    3. Puts orders away as requested.

    4. Makes coffee and tea. Sets out condiments when necessary.

    5. Assists Kitchen Manager with food temperature checks, food quality inspection, menu planning, and weekly reports when requested.

    6. Assist in preparing and serving food.

    7. Coordinates home delivered meal trays that are delivered to patrons that are not ambulatory

    The above duties and responsibilities include those tasks, physical and mental requirements, visual requirement, unique physical surroundings and mental/cognitive abilities required to perform the essential elements of the position.

    GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of meal preparation for large groups, ability to read and follow recipes as well as knowledge of how to adjust food volume when needed.

    • Education and Special License(s)/Certifications – High school diploma, GED or vocational training.

    Must be able to have Possession of Food Handlers License or ability to obtain within 15 days of hire.

    • Experience – No previous experience required. Cooking/kitchen experience preferred.

    • Skills - Skill in operating listed tools and equipment. Knowledge of safety standards, city and county health standards and requirements.

    • Mental Requirements - Ability to interface effectively with others.

    • Physical Requirements - Must be able to stand for prolonged periods; must be able to listen to normal conversation; must be able to walk occasionally, and use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; must be able to reach with hands and arms; must be able to have vision sufficient to see close up and have the ability to adjust focus; and, must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and transport it 15 feet.

    • Supervisory Responsibility - Provides supervision of assigned kitchen staff and volunteer kitchen staff.
